1 Stop Speed End of Summer Team Report

It’s been a minute since we were last able to update everyone with a 1 Stop Speed team report and we certainly apologize for the lack of updates. If you didn’t already know, Mike Belo recently opened Premier Powersports, which is a pre-owned powersports dealership in West Palm Beach, FL. While the endeavor has been flourishing, it has taken a lot of time and hard work. Rest assured that 1 Stop Speed is still going strong and we have been working hard on the next step in our racing program.

To catch everyone up to speed, we attended the massive IDBL Bikefest in July (despite the forecast) with the 1 Stop Speed Hayabusa and Richard Gadson at the controls. Saturday was almost a complete washout due to the rain, which forced us to only have one qualifier for Top Sportsman. Unfortunately, we encountered a slight issue and were unable to make the field. Despite that disappointment, we did fix the issue and compete on Sunday in the ET classes. In what has become somewhat normal for the Belo/Gadson duo, they once again found themselves down to the last few racers in the prestigious Pro ET category. At three bikes left they would face the always tough Michael Herman Sr and knowing he would have to cut a good light Gadson pushed a tad too much turning on the red light.

It certainly wasn’t the fairy tale weekend that most racers dream of on the ride to the track, but considering the crazy number of entries it was hard to be disappointed. To make it down to the final 3 bikes out of 168 entries is remarkable. Without the extra seat time that the team had envisioned having, they did however feel like they had unfinished business. Which led to a last-minute decision to head to Indianapolis for the NHDRO event the following weekend.

With big payouts posted in both ET classes for Saturday, it was a gamble the team decided was worth the drive. Gadson went to work making his way through the early rounds of both classes on Saturday, while balancing the riding duties on an RMR Pro Street bike as well. The Pro Street bike would prove to benefit the most though, as Gadson posted the #1 qualifier with a very stout 6.82 pass. The big payouts brought out some tough matches and Richard fell on the wrong side of some very close races, especially late in the rounds of Street ET with a super close race against Jeremy Teasley.

Once again, the rain clouds appeared, but this time it was on Sunday and the final day of the event was washed out. We haven’t finalized the remainder of our season schedule, but we do hope to be out again soon. Make sure to pick up your new 1 Stop Speed shirt as well!

The team would like to thank their loyal sponsors for the continued support into 2017: Adams Performance, AEM Performance Electronics, MTC Engineering, Belo Designs LLC, HRP Fabrication, Beringer Brakes, M2.Shocks, Fragola Performance Systems, Driven Racing Oil, X-treme Graphics & Lettering, CP-Carrillo, Web Camshafts, HDFR, Montgomery Motorsports, Ryan Schnitz Racing, and Worldwide Bearings.
