Mickey Eddinger, father of veteran racer Dimey Eddinger, passed away August 6 after a 12-year battle with cancer. He was 64.
Mickey was a great friend in the motorcycle drag racing community. He always had a smile on his face and seemed to know everybody. He will be dearly missed.

Mr. Mickey "Wheels" Eddinger, 64, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 2, 1948 in Forsyth County to William Samuel “Bill” Eddinger, Jr. and Edythe Jones Eddinger. Mickey was owner of Wheels by Mickey, and had a lifelong love of motorcycles. He worked for Richard Childress and the pit crew for Ricky Rudd. He finished his career with DME Construction for over 30 years. He loved being involved with DME (Dimey Mickey Eddinger) Racing.
Surviving are one son, Dimey Eddinger and wife Kristina; two
granddaughters, Skyler and Sadie; an adopted son, Gregory Baugus; a sister, Lynn Nifong and husband George of Oak Island; a brother, Van Eddinger and wife Deanna of Southport; his girlfriend, Dawn Duggins; and many other family members. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 9 at Griffith Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Brown officiating. (Mickey requested that everyone wear jeans for the service).
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:30 Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mickey Eddinger Memorial Fund, c/o Richard (Dimey) Eddinger, 2260 Old Salisbury Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or Cancer Services, Inc., 3175 Maplewood Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Brodkin and his staff, and the staff of the 9th Floor and ICU at Forsyth Medical Center for their care and support.
