The Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana was rained out over Labor Day weekend, but that did not stop Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Dawn Minturn, of Columbus, Ohio, from qualifying for her first ever national event ....twice!
"We went into Monday (Labor Day) with high hopes of getting some racing in. We were in the show and felt very confident our Amor Paving & Sealing Buell would go some rounds!” Said Minturn. “When I found out we had to come back the following weekend and re-qualify, I had mixed emotions. I was excited to make more laps on the Buell, but I knew we had our work cut out for us. A lot of teams left and tested, as for us, we went back home and worked.” With a lot of hard work and dedication Minturn proved that anything is possible. She qualified her Matt Smith Racing Buell into the No.16 spot with a 7.04 E.T.

Sunday, the team faced Andrew Hines in round one of eliminations. Minturn ran a 7.06 E.T. at 186 mph. “We gave it everything we had, we just did not get the win light” Minturn who only has 10 passes on a Buell, is still working on her skills as a driver to work in conjunction with all the power the Buell has to offer.”
Minturn would like to thank her husband, S.J. Mack for all his hard work and support, her crew chief, Keith Nichols, Matt Smith Racing for giving her a very powerful Buell to race, and her sponsors Armor Paving & Sealing (Columbus, OH), Rusty Bucket Restaurant & Tavern (Columbus, OH), Rider Insurance(Springfield, NJ) and Schiets Motorsports (Fremont, OH).
Minturn who races on a limited budget is currently looking for sponsors for 2013 and beyond. As of right now, the team is making plans to race at the Big O Tire Nationals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, October 25-28.
