Teemu Kettula, Thomas Olsen, Jan Sturla Hegre and Mogens Lund winners at Alastaro

Teemu Kettula was the upset winner in Super Twin Motorcycle at the FHRA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro, round two of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship. In the all Finnish final Kettula defeated favorite Samu Kemppainen. In Pro Stock Motorcycle Thomas Lysebraate Olsen won his second race of the season by defeating number one qualifier Timo Savolainen. There was also a second consecutive win for Mogens Lund in Super Street Bike as the Dane was in a class of his own at Alastaro. In Top Fuel Motorcycle Jan Sturla Hegre was the winner in Finland.

After the problems in qualifying, race day at Alastaro was almost trouble free and eliminations could be completed under cooler but excellent conditions.

In Super Twin Motorcycle Teemu Kettula, the number six qualifier, defeated Svein Olav Rolfstad in the quarter final as the number one qualifier suffered technical problems. After a bye run in the semi final, Kettula had to face Samu Kemppainen in the final. The reigning EDRS Pro Nordic MC Super Twin Motorcycle champion came back to form after problems at the Tierp Internationals and in Alastaro qualifying. Kemppainen defeated Roman Sixta and Jaska Salakari to advance to the all Finnish final. Kemppainen was the favourite to win the trophy, but the reigning champion ran into problems and so Kettula could take the win, his first victory in the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship.

In Pro Stock Motorcycle Thomas Lysebraate Olsen from Norway defeated Kenneth Holmberg in the semi final. In the other semi final number one qualifier Timo Savolainen stormed to 7.11 seconds to defeat Alex Hope and advance to the final. In the final Savolainen pulled a red light, handing the win to Olsen, who also was the winner of round one of the EDRS Pro Nordic MC at Tierp Arena.

In Top Fuel Motorcycle Jan Sturla Hegre defeated reigning EDRS Pro Nordic MC champion Thomas Pettersson to take his first win of the season.

Mogens Lund and Anders Blanck

In Super Street Bike number one qualifier Mogens Lund advanced to the final after defeating Mark Hope and the Finnish favourite Vesa Ruhanen. In the semi final the Dane recorded 7.11 seconds, a new best elapsed time of the event. In the final Lund had to face Anders Blanck as the Norwegian rider was too quick for Kim Hilander and had a bye run in the semi final. In the final it was once again Lund who was in a class of his own, and took the win. It was the second consecutive win for Lund as the Dane also was the winner at Tierp Arena two weeks ago.

Toni Suokas

In Super Comp Bike number one qualifier Toni Suokas defeated Tierp Arena winner Kimo Rantala in the final to take the win.  In Super Gas Bike Jari Malinen defeated number one qualifier Heikki Koskinen to take his first victory of the season.

QUALIFYING

Svein Olav Rolfstad, Timo Savolainen, Jan Sturla Hegre and Mogens Lund number one qualifiers at FHRA Nitro Nationals

Svein Olav Rolfstad raced to the number one qualifying position in Super Twin Motorcycle at the final day of qualifying for the FHRA Nitro Nationals, round two of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship at Alastaro, Finland. In Pro Stock Motorcycle Timo Savolainen claimed the number one qualifying position. In Top Fuel Motorcycle Friday leader Jan Sturla Hegre remained in the number one position, while in Super Street Bike Mogens Lund was in a class of his own and will enter eliminations as the number one qualifier.

It were not the best days of racing on Friday and Saturday at Alastaro, as oildowns caused long delays and were the reason that not all four qualifying rounds of the Finnish rounds of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship could be completed.

In Super Twin Motorcycle Svein Olav Rolfstad stormed to a stunning 6.56 seconds and claimed the number one qualifying position. Greger Johansson recorded 7.63 seconds in Friday qualifying and that was enough to be the number two qualifier.

Local hero Jaska Salakari was the surprise number three qualifier with reigning EDRS Pro Nordic MC Super Twin Motorcycle champion Samu Kemppainen only fifth qualifier.

In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Timo Savolainen, from Finland, remained in the number one qualifying position with his Friday elapsed time of 7.23 seconds.

Kenneth Holmberg (Sweden) improved to 7.27 seconds to claim the number two qualifying position, with Thomas Lysebraate Olsen from Norway in third position.

Alex Hope, from England is fourth qualifier, making the top four coming from four different countries. Janne Koskinen made his Pro Stock Motorcycle debut at Alastaro. After completing his licencing procedure, the young Finn touched the wall in qualifying and crashed. Koskinen was taken to hospital and has a broken knee and wrist.

In Top Fuel Motorcycle Jan Sturla Hegre from Norway claimed the number one qualifying position, with reigning champion Thomas Pettersson in second position.

Mogens Lund

In Super Street Bike favourite Mogens Lund was in a class of his own, claiming the number one qualifying position with 7.38 seconds.

Vesa Ruhanen

Anders Blanck improved to 7.60 seconds and is the number two qualifier with Vesa Ruhanen in third and Robert Håggblom in fourth position. Reigning champion Henri Kolehmainen was only sixth qualifier and will have to improve his elapsed times in eliminations to stay in the title race.

In Super Comp Bike Toni Suokas is the number one qualifier, with Peter Östlund in second position, while in Super Gas Bike Heikki Koskinen and Kari Rautanen will lead their category into eliminations.
