View Full Version : Vacuum pumps
I am thinking to add a vacuum pump to my bike. With the Rajay not
being able to hold much pressure at the seal points it seems that
running a vacuum pump may actually cause problems. Has anyone
tried this

... Geek, actually the pump will pull on the drain. So, less likely oil out; however I don't know if it will let intake air or exhaust in.
I agree.
The single feed type forces the oil to the center of the bearing
cavity. Its then forced to the two bearings onto the outside
where it flows to the drain cavity. It would seem with this type
of bearing that the you may introduce air into the sides of the
bearing. Could be worse on the inlet side if fuel enters and
breaks down the oil.
With the dual feed type, the oil is injected right into the two
bearings using eight feed points. These holes are drilled into
the center of each bearing. There is no control like with the
single feed that forces the oil in a certain direction. It can
flow to the center of the bearing which is a drain in the dual feed
type and to the outside which is also a drain path. With this
design, it would seem like the majority of oil will take the path of
least resistance and flow towards the center to the drain. It
would seem like adding vacuum may worsen the effect and cause no oil to
flow around the outside of the bearing.
I have not tried it, but I'm just looking at the parts and thinking that there could be some problems.

1 more positive point to dedicated oiling for the turbo
