Race day is here! I unloaded off the trailer with a 5.06 in the 5.00 class so I have some where to tune from. Chad Otts 5.03 and Matt Smith went 5.09 I think. Richard Gadson is here and he went a 5.02 so it looks like there is going to be a tight field! This is the only 5.00 Semi Pro class bikesthat I have numbers for and I will try to update as the day progresses.

<DIV>Travis Davis unloaded with a 4.34 and Ashley Owens is here on a TT Jones bike and as far as I know he has not made a[pass yet. </DIV>

<DIV>It is hot but nothinglike a month ago here!</DIV>

Well best laid plans sometimes go the wrong way! LOL The only change that I made was bringing it in a little faster and it went a 5.12.http://forums.dragbike.com/smileys/smiley5.gif Not what I was trying for since the first pass was a 5.06.
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The sun was out for a while as I made that 2nd pass and my 60ft numbers were .04 off the first one and I actually felt it spin for a split second before it moved. I can not believe the little change that I made made it act like that so I am attributing that to maybe lining up in a not so good groove. Thats my story and I am sticking to it! http://forums.dragbike.com/smileys/smiley17.gif</DIV>

I heard only 10 bikes were there for the 5.0 index and about 5-6 for the outlaw bike class. Car count was low too from what i was told. Maybe the weather was a factor in keeping people away.

<DIV>Hopefully Wade will give us a full, unedited, blow by blow report when he gets home. </DIV>Edited by: dragracer

Not talked to Marc but I I have heard that James Helton won in the fastest class in bikes and Richard Gadson won the 5.0 class. And they were both on Timblin chassis bikes. Got to love it.

<DIV>I wishedI could give a blow by blow report but I was so busy prpping the bike to get back into the lanes (racing two classes with same bike) that I did not get to watch much racing.</DIV>

<DIV>James Helton did win as Walt mentioned but I do not know who he ran in the final.</DIV>

<DIV>Richard Gadson won a against Chad Otts in the final of 5.00 Semi Pro his 4.99 to Chads 5.02. The 4.99 wins as the final was out the back door rules. Both of these bikes are all motor so the NOS and Turbo bikes got to watch from the stands.</DIV>

<DIV>On a side note I would like to mention the Sportsmanship that Mike Lingo exhibited to me in the 2nd round of the 5.0 class. My bike malfunctioned and did not hold when I pressed the air clutch button and it lurched through the beams and stalled.Mike allowed me to restart and stage as he sat there with his prestage bulb on, when if he wanted to, he could have went ahead and staged up with out me! Thanks Mike! </DIV>

<DIV>In the NuBracket race my friend and local Atlanta racer Jaybird Rhyne won the $$$! Way to go Jaybird, you got by one tough racer in that Chicken head Chad Otts! Yes that is correct folks Chad was in the final in both 5.00 and NuBracket! Matt Smith took me out in thethird round of NuBracket with a dead on run! Those Dog House racing boys are tough tough tough! Congrats to you to Chad!</DIV>

I agree with that thought butits doubtful i could have sucessfully convinced the other 200 members of my family that it was a good idea.

Congrats to NDRL crew and all the racers who made the event a success!

<DIV>Even with the imposing spectre of rain, I was still impressed with how many trailers I saw as I arrived at the facility. The NDRL format of cars and bikes combined may be just the ticket in these economic times. I personally can't wait to run both a car AND a bike in the series in the future!</DIV>

<DIV>If you want to see some good, clean, and uniquely different racing, you need to attend an NDRL event. Their format is not the "same old thing!"</DIV>

<DIV>I did not have a bike to run as mine is still in pieces (Soon to be rectified next week.) so I did not make it. I do plan on coming to one of them in the future.</DIV>

<DIV>It is possible the combination of cars and bikes may be an answer to getting people in the stands.</DIV>

Congrats to James on his win, we could not make the final due to engine failure in the semi's. The turn out was low probably from fear of rain and also the unsurness of another new organization not being able to payout what was posted. I am sure some concessions were made on some of the car class's but I believe Marc was able to handle all the M/C class's. I want to say thanks to Doug and his crew for coming out along with everybody else that took the chance on this first event. It will take all the current and upcoming organizations to work together on dates and so forth and we will continue to have a place to race. Had a great time . Poppa JD

I think it's cool that Wade posted and gave updates on his day at the NDRL race. This was not only NDRL's first race as drag racing league........it was me and Art's very first time hosting such an event. We don't have a big staff. The staff was me, Art, my wife, and some great friends that came to our race at there own expense to help. So, we were not able to post stats. I will try and post a few stats up in the next few days.

I do want to thank Harvey Deane, Dru Watson and Don Chavous for volunteering to help us. I will be for ever in their debt. I also want to thank all the people whohelped us promote this first race by telling other racers, posting oninternet sites and passing out flyers. Wade did a lot of help and I thank him and the site for giving us a spot here on dragbike.com.

<DIV>The weather forcast did hurt the race. Weather stations were showing rain early in the week prior to the Race for Sat and Sun. Friday night.....our test and tune was totally washed out. Jim Howard told me and Art that he did feel that our attendance was going to be affected. Jim received many calls from racers that were concerned about the weather. Harvey Deane Heard the same.</DIV>

<DIV>I want to thank everyone for coming out. I can say this.......everyone I spoke with enjoyed themselves and had a good time. Top Fuel Motorcycle racer Tommy Smith came and so did Bill Hahn Jr. I will chat more later.....http://forums.dragbike.com/smileys/smiley1.gif</DIV>

The first event -in my opinion- was very well done. It was obvious to
me that the NDRL and Montgomery Motorsports Park did everything they
could to make this event a success. NDRL has a future planning events at this facility without a doubt. The concept of the classes worked out well, therefore the bullsh*t and drama was kept to a minimum-exactly as advertised.

Looking forward to what the future may hold...

<DIV>We only made on adjustment to one car class that had the lowest count. All drivers in the class were pleased and stated that they would inform more racers in there class about the NDRL. They also stated to me on more than one occassion that they would support us again. That'sall we ask for.......http://forums.dragbike.com/smileys/smiley4.gif</DIV>

<DIV>Doug knows I will be giving him a hard time for awhile about his teams win http://forums.dragbike.com/smileys/smiley4.gif(joke). Richard Gadsen was very pleased and stated he had fun in the class. It was great to see Chad Otts in the final. Dog House Racing team ain't no joke. I can tell that those guys no how to race and they know how to party. </DIV>

<DIV>I agree on John's comment about racers being concerned about a new org. And, this apply's to car associations as well. Anyway we want to thank Davis Racing for there support. </DIV>

<DIV>Congrats to James Helton! It was cool to have a friend for 20 years win a class at our very first event</DIV>Edited by: Marc Powe

<DIV>You have a way of getting straight to the point........lol. We thank you for your comments. We will most likely have our second event at Montgomery Motorsports Park. Next year we will branch out however it maybe to the NDRL's best interest to have another race with Jim and Brandon. Jim was very pleased with our format. Coming from a track owner with many more years of experience promoting races I took it as a great compliment.</DIV>

Congratulations to Marc and Art for a great race. The weather wasn't the best, but all went well. Richard with Team Leatherneck and Chad with Team Doghouse really put on a show in the finals of 5.0. Both are great racers and displayed the highest degree of sportmanship. We went, we raced and the full purse was paid without any hesistation whatsoever. These two gentlemen proved to be men of their word. "Wewill support you'll in the future."

Inspite of our debate about the 5.0 index format Marc, I'm very glad your event went well. I regret i was unable to make this one. I did check in periodically with my team members who were participating and they said they were enjoying themselves and would come back to your next event. I will be sure my schedule is cleared for the following event.

<DIV>Congratulations again to you and Art for successful completion of the inaugural NDRL event. Tell Tupac http://forums.dragbike.com/smileys/smiley8.gifi'm sorry i didn't get to hang out with him at your race. </DIV>

<DIV>Had a great time and enjoyed the inaugural event. I know it was a stressful weekend for both you and Art, but you guys should be really proud that you completed the event despite the low turnout. The decisions that were made have given the NDRL credibility and should get all the guys on the fence and sidelines at your next event. I really believe your next event will have the pits pack, just remember everyone that attended the first event gets reserved parking, lol.</DIV>

I went with Wade this weekend to crew for him. All of us, Wade, Eric x2, Bobby all had a good time. Yeah, we did get some rain for a couple of hours, but the track personnel dried it asap, and the show went on. Guys, with the economy and recent events really putting the hurt on motorcycle dragracing, this effort by Marc and Art was a welcomed shot in the arm. They have taken a VERY big financial risk with this and we motorcycle racers and car racers should give them all the support we can. The purses were paid! I for one, even though I have been unable to race this year due to money problems, will try my best to make the next event, either in ET or hopefully the 5.50 index class promised. The car guys that we talked to were friendly. Marc told me the track owner was impressed with the format, which bodes well for future events. Once again, Thank you Marc and Art for sticking your neck out for the future of dragracing!!
