Im planning to do one of My Z 1000 E2 cylinderhead for 8 sparkplugs. How many coils DYNA S can run How much resistance of coil I must use Any information is wellcoming.

I believe you can run two 1.5 ohm coils in series to each trigger. 1.5 ohm + 1.5 ohm = 3 ohm resistance. Better check with Dyna and make sure that I am correct on this though.

Thanks Technoman64, I was thinking same too, resistance together does matter. Sure 4 coils eats double current, but it not a proplem.

Dennis has it right, 4- DC2-1, 1.5 ohm coils. Use a pair wired in series for 1-4 and the other pair in series for 2-3. Do you have a fax E-mail me at scott@dynaonline.com and I will fax you a diagram.

If you are going to a 8 plug head you should consider some version of ignition amplifier, even an old analog MSD #4210 box. The limit on ignition is the current the Dyna "S" can deliver whether through one 3 ohm coil and two plugs,or two 1.5 ohm coils and 4 plugs.

The ignition amplifiers put the large current separate and the Dyna "S" only becomes a "trigger" which greatly increases the life of the Dyna "S" units.

Thanks sonicrete, I cant found any info DYNA S current limits. That ignition ampilifier can be the best way to extends Dynas life.

Zephyr 1100 had already 8 plugs ignition, maybethat ignition unit adopted for Z will work too.

you wont have any problems, running 4, 1.5 ohm coils & a dyna s, i use this setup on my 4cyl 2 stroke & it works great, I talked with the techs at dyna when I was building the engine,& they recommended it as a good setup, no problems, & strong spark at all 4 coils

I thought I had heard from others that dual 1.5 ohm in series was the way to go about it with a Dyna S. Doing the math 1.5 ohm + 1.5 ohm = 3.0 ohm, normal Dyna S coil = 3.0 ohm. The current load for each would be the same, i.e. - 12 volts / 3.0 ohm = 4 amp current draw. This would not create any extra current draw to the Dyna S then it would normally see using one 3.0 coil.

Ding, Ding! We have a winner! The Dyna S will run perfectly fine by itself with the 1.5 ohm coils.
