Can someone explain the "index" term used in dragracing to me
I thought that if you were racing in a class that has an index of say, 9.90 seconds, you aren't supposed to go faster than 9.90 seconds.
You thought right Pam!!
I thought your index was the fingerright next to the one everyone showseach otheron the freeway......
Index racing is a bracket race where everyone has the same dial-in and they are started by a pro tree.
So are you not supposed to run faster than the index I'm confused because when I was looking at the eliminations for the Prostar 600SS from Norwalk, it appears that some of the winners ran faster than 9.90, and the person in the other lane didn't redlight, and I'm assuming they weren't disqualified for some other infraction.
600SS is a heads up class- no index- the first bike to the finish line wins. Index classes are:
Super Gas 9.90 index
Super Comp 8.90 index
Top Gas (my favorite index class) 8.20 index
Info I had posted was not what was desired...Edited by: 1100XX

Sounds like the index class is just E/T with the same dialOriginally Posted by tt6pam
Must be a mis print or they never thought the 600's would go that fast...
Heads up is just that, no limit on the top! First to the stripe wins.
(as long as you don't leave early or cross the center line.)
