Dear SEMDRA Racers,
After much deliberation, the SEMDRA Committee has decided to cancel this Saturday's Cycle Masters Nationals in Douglas, GA. Because of the past few days ofheavy rain and forecasts of more rain and hurricane winds to come, webelieve we had no other option.
Foremost in making our decision was the safety of our riders, their teams and their families. Since many of our racers travel from Florida and surrounding areas that have been hit hard by"Bonnie," and with "Charley" on its way, travel to the track could be very treacherous. Pulling race trailersthough hurricane winds anddriving rains is dangerousand we will not ask any of our racers to take thatchance.
We also took into accountthatcompetitors living in the areas directly in the hurricane's path should not have to make a choice between racing and taking care of their homes and businesses.
In addition, there isthe question of track conditions. Even if Saturdayturns out to be a beautiful, sunny day, the track and surrounding parking areas are saturated.
To conclude, we apologize for any inconvenience this postponement may cause and appreciate your understanding. Mark your calendars for the make-up race on August 28th, there will also be a Test &amp; Tune Friday August 27 from 7-10pm. If you have any questions, please contact one of the committee members.

Good call SEMDRA! As much as I like too race, safety should always be number one on the agenda. This is just another aspect of why SEMDRA is such anawesome racing organization.
On another note I wish all my Florida friends and residentssafety and good luck with the approaching hurricane.

I am with you Wade and Chuck...Think the SEMDRA folks made the proper call. Ditto on the Florida freinds, any of you headed north that need anything call me 912-727-5593 we look good till saturday and may join the evacuation party at that point but till then all are welcome.

I will let the people from the Savannah area and surrounding SC area know also. I have gotten quite a few calls on this and I'm glad a decision was made. Some new racers to Semdra were coming from Hinesville, GA and Hardeeville, SC was going to follow me to the race to get the full Semdra experience. thanks
