Yes, that is correct. The heat sheilds are
stainless steel. ..... Turbo companies build billet
backing plates that are stronger than the stock cast ones however this
is the part that is located behind the compressor wheel not the turbine
shaft/wheel.

When I was talking with Tom he mentioned that he had cracked a few of the bearing housing flanges when the bike lean out.



I am not sure what the stock casting I have was made from but it is
non-magnetic. I had the face cut back down on the one that
warped. I wonder if the material, having taken some kind of set
would now be less prone to warp.
