Where can I get an EGT controller that will read my temps and shut me down if I overheat. I am riding an '85 Suzuki GS1150 w/ a 1500 Engine. The header currently has 4 holes for temp readers. I am adding a progressive nitrous system this year to see how low in the 8's I can go and I don't want anything to go wrong that I can prevent. I am controlling the system w/ a Schnitz Pro Series 2 Box and am using a Nitrous Express system. Any other input (on the nitrous) would be greatful. Edited by: teddy
I have a Red Alert EGT that will dowhat you want. It's brand new- I'll cut you a deal on it.
Sent you an e-mail Teddy.
Using EGT for nitrous can be very misleading, most of the time you will not be able to use them to tune by. Case in point, if it is running lean it may read well over 1300 degrees and show it on the plug when you pull it, running real rich it will read well over 1300 degrees due to the fuel burning in the header instead of the combustion chamber, hence giving you you high temp reading, but then you pull the plugs and see that they they are clean and have the same color your lean plug would show from being washed clean with the hot unburned fuel. Now what
O2 sensor is the way to go with nitrous if you are worried about it.
Danno
On the extreme side of rich and lean you may get similar readings but I've used one for the past 7-8 years with nitrous and I've never ran into that situation. And besides, if the egt kills your nos because you've reached 1300 degrees on the rich side, no harm-no foul.I think you would have to try pretty hard to get a bike running that rich and get it down the track.
7.0's @ 190 reading 1400 or better @ 700lbs
Meaning 1400 degrees andrich!!
Yes
