Good day all i have a dead man switch that I am tyrying to install on my early Z-1. When the tether and plug are inserted this willopen the circuit (in other words their is no continuity through the switch). When the plug is removed I have continuity. I have checked three (3) other switches and they all operate the same way. It would stand to reason that when you pull the plug from the socket that you wouyld break all power. I know you have to be smarter than the switch but what am I doing wrong here

    Cheers

does it work backwards when thetether is pulled the bike runs and when the tether is on the bike will not run I had the same problem, you are using a ground out tether not a live tether, buy the right tether if that is your problem, schnitz has them I believe but I am sure dennis kirk has them, that is where I bought mine

you shouldn't send all the igniton power thru the kill switch anyway. use a relay instead so that the kill switch is operating on the low voltage side of the relay. then the ignition is going thru the high side. also most relays will give you the option of normally open and normally closed on the low side(to conect the high side)so either kill switch can work. sorry if this is hard to follow,I can do it better than I can say it
