hi out there does anyone know of any v-8 dragbikes out there.how fast they run et mph .other than of course e.j. potter.how about any pictures. thanks inadvance.
I am sure someone will post a picture.
Danny Johnson built a block to hold two 1150 Suzuki top ends to create
a "true" motorcycle drag bike. It was injected on nitro a really nice
set-up but lacked a supercharger,so was heavy compared to the Trett
style engines that now dominate.
I forget who now owns that bike, but it sure had a pretty air brushed
"snake" motiff when Johnson ran it. The first place I saw it run was at
Bristol about 15 yrs ago. Ended up being Frog Thacker riding it,against
Elmer Trett in the final, excellent show.
There's one Puma V8 with FJ headsstill under finishing in GB. Project was started by Pete Davis (= Mr. Puma), bike was owned some years ago by Ian King.

Scroll down for a pic of Mike Charlton. He runs the bike all the time at Thompson. I think he has been in the high 7s over 170.
The photo of the Yamaha shows it as having a single crankshaft. Didn,t
Johnsons Suzuki have two crankshafts

Pupbuilt the Johnson bike ,, he must still be at the shop
Danny's bike had one crank and two 1327Four valve heads for a total of 160 cu. in....It had home made fuel injection and a B&J- 2 spd. tranny...The bottom end was made by a guy in Michigan and was made for 1/4 midgets but was outlawed because it was way to fast for the class...It had a cast crank in it and that turned out to be the weak link with NITRO...He was having a steel crank made and some aluminum rods but I don't know if he ever got them done...I heard he sold the bike and as far as I know it's still legal to run and will be grandfathered in if it were to be raced again but NOT with a Blower, injection only...I would think that with 160 inches on nitro and a strong bottom end it would be the bike to beat...Someday we may find out...
pup....
