Hey guys, here is the deal. I was considering removing the rad on my bike. So I approched this forum to ask if I could get away with it. Everyone said no. So I left it alone. Friday night I came down way too hard after a 11:00 wheelie and smashed the rad pretty good on the lowering strap buckle/adjuster. So now I need to repair it or remove it. The bike as a water oil cooler on it. Ken Stotz new 1000rr has no rad, and is a turbo bike Is there any way I can remove the rad what if I remove the rad but leave the fluid to cycle through. In other words bypass the rad with some plumbing
Thanks
PJ
I RUN A ZX11 W/ 1109 KIT, PORTED, CAMS THE USUAL STUFF. I RIDE IT TO THE LANES, RIDE IT BACK AND IT NEVER GETS OVER 195 DEGREES, EVEN HOT LAPPING. IF YOU TURN IT LOOSE IT WILL RUN WELL INTO THE 8'S WITH MY BIG A$$ ON IT. THE WATER PUMP IS BLOCKED OFF AND ALL THE HOLES FOR COOLING PIPES ARE OPEN. I THINK IF YOU TRY IT YOU WILL SEE GOOD RESULTS. GOOD LUCK AND LET US KNOW HOW IT WORKS. ROB

Right on.. i think tomorrow night i will remove it and run the bike in the garage and see what kind of temps I get. Your bike let's me know it can be done. What year is your bike
PJ,
I THINK IT'S A 95 OR 96 MOTOR. REMEMBER THIS AINT NO SCOOTER ANYMORE. RUN THE MOTOR ONLY WHEN NEEDED. ALSO GOT TO KEEP IT MOVING. IF YOU TAKE THAT STUFF OFF IT'S AIR COOLED NOW. IF IT SITS IDLING IT PROBABLY WILL OVERHEAT. MINE ACTUALLY COOLS DOWN WHILE RIDING BACK TO THE PITS. GOOD LUCK.
Rob: If it is dry, how do you monitor the temp
NON CONTACT LASER TEMP GUN
dont you still run water in the jackets , a pressure cap to a recovery tank
NOPE. TRAC HAD SOME SORT OF SYSTEM ON IT LIKE THAT WHEN THEY BUILT IT BUT IT BOILED THE WATER AFTER A FEW HOT LAPS, SO SHE BE DRY NOW. IT COOLS DOWN PRETTY WELL WHILE RIDING IT BACK. AIR COOLED.
then you might want to use "hard block" same as the car guys , they fill the block water jackets and run water only thru the head , tractor pullers fill the heads also zero water ,,,, the air in your jackets acts as an insulater , hardblock creates a path for the heat to travel outward
JACK,
SINCE THIS COMBINATION HAS ONLY A THOUSAND PASSES OR SO, I THINK I MIGHT SHY AWAY FROM MAKING ANY CHANGES.
