I currently run a gs 1150 car tire with 1428cc motor and a garrett turbo with a s&s carb. I am considering going to a Lectron on alcohol. Could anybody give me the short comings and or the benifits of alcohol and the lectron.

I appriciate all of the help you have all givin me on this question and others.

Use the lectron and keep it on gas. It will run like a street bike and be much easier than the alk.

Alkyhol runs cooler, but washes oil from piston ring, causing them to overheat and crack eventually. Short drag runs with constant observation of rings ok, but I'd rather look at something else.

alky run with fuel-lube or castor oil , forget about any piston issues , but you have to adhear to a daily maintenace schedule beyond gasoline , from an engine plan you need 16-1 compression or 13-1 with boost ,,, end product is up to 33% more hp paying less than pump gas for fuel

Wow, I don't do this very often but I agree with Jack! forget all the bullsh!t from guysthat have no experience with other fuels. I have an alky setup that I love to run for brackets. It runs a tenth and a half quicker than gas with the same sized carbs and has less than half the change due to weather. that is if it will change a tenth with gas it'll change a half a tenth with alky. plus once you get heat in the motor there are noissuesrelated to consistency and heat. you can hot lap with no probs other than clutch heat.

BTW you will have to change oil more often and run an oil that is compatable with alcohol. see your local dirt trackers for advise on this!!

I looked at that site and it's all good stuff! The only thing that I'd add is that you need slightly different jetting for ethanol vs methanol. If you are running Methanol then all the published formulas and calculations will get you close enough to fine tune. If you are planning to run ethanol find someone that runs that and use their jetting formulas.
