I have the financials for the W.C. races when they were run. I can't imagine what reason would be worse than the financials do for those events.<div>

Do we smell "complacency" or..rich guys coasting? No hunger...no love....no research?
There is NO somewhere which needs to be corrected....or the whole thing avoided.

Yea, the Game event in Vegas could have been a cool Race to keep going. But didn't they bounce some checks to racers also?

A number of years ago, Las Vegas had a "bike weekend" thing which included drag racing, road racing, mottard, etc. Live bands in the pits ( Molly Hatchet?).

Spectators paid to get into one event, and there were tram like buses that you could get on and go see the other types of racing.

Had a very large manufacturers midway. The only thing it didn't have was people, both racers or spectators.

Nobody supported this thing, so they never did it again.

I did that event spectators where there just not at the dragstrip . They were at the 1/2 mile watching Moto jumpers with their girl friends and buddy's . It was very sad to see Molly Hatchet playing for a huge crowd of 35-40 people . Promoter made bike riders pay to park &amp; made them park a long way from the event. Running under the lights in LV at the Strip is fun event. The biggest event i have seen on the West Coast was at Sac it was Funny Car Fever Event with a bike class also. 4000-5000 spectators on hand . If you can get hooked up with another group/club cars or what ever you stand a better chance and having a good turn out and a lot better event . And the other group/club kinda has to like what you are trying to do all so . It is funny to think if you were to see a Prostreet/turbo bike on a open trailer . Joe citizen would think another street bike . Now you put a bar bike say a Funny bike Promod on the same trailer he is going to say that's a dragbike with six of wheel bar hanging out the back . NHRA dragracing is now a EVENT, I know people that only go to winter/nat's and finals at Pomona and nothing else . Bike racing needs to be the same way A EVENT TO GO SEE . Spectators = DOLLARS . Air shows are the same way spectators come for the SHOW!! .

What about Arizona or Las Vegas in the future...either of those would catch the West Coast...

<DIV>Don't forget Salt Lake City. The Prostar/NMRA race held at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Aug of 1999 drew close to 100 bikes...more than any other event they put on out West if memory serves. We attracted racers from Cali, Az, Idaho, Utah (of course), and Colorado. </DIV>

<DIV>There were ~6000 fans in the stands since they piggybacked off a Funny Car Fever event. Even though it was a car event that mainly drew the spectators, they opened the event that evening with two Pro Mod bikes (Scott Valentine and Ryan Evans) going down the track. The crowd freaked with excitement. </DIV>

<DIV>It was awesome while it lasted. It would sure be great to get back to those days...</DIV>
