OK, it is not drag bike racing, but it has been raining steady out here for almost a week.

The other day I gould swear I heard race cars up on the track, so I opened the back door, and yes they were.

Just a few like a private test. Then I realized that professional road racers race in the rain, and the only way to get practice doing that is to come out to the track when it is raining and run laps.

I mentioned this to someone and they said that one year, one of the big 24 hour races, Lemans or Sebring was run entirely in the rain.

I 'seen two TA/FC's race in the rainon a small 1/8 mile track in Winston County Alabama once. If memory serves me correct the fastest one went 90mph. It was suppose to be a best of 2 out of 3 match race and we were just trying to entertain the fans. LOL
If it be the Lords will and the creeks don't rise we'll be racing! GRT

Formula 1 races in the rain quite often.

I was at the last race at Hockenheimring in 2000before they shortened it. Rubens Barichello beat Mika Hakkinen at that race and it was run in the rain. Actually half of it was run in the rain. The back half of the track which had most of teh straights and less curves was dry, on the front half of the track where most of the curves are it rained the whole race. Mike chose rain tires and Rubens went with dry.

It was a very cool race because Mika would just about catch Rubens in the rain area and then Rubens would pull ahead once he got out of the rain.

Fortunately for me I was sitting in the back half of the track where it did not rain.

In the photos above I had to walk through pouring rain in the woods to get to my section in the back, the picture of the Rubens was taken once I was in my seat.
It is too bad bench racing is not measureable. That way someone would win.

a few years ago the Daytona 24Hour race was ran mostly in the rain.
One of the guys for Road And Track had a guest seat in a car and wrote about the race. Said there is something that scare you more than others, one of those things is topping out 6th gear in a Porsche in pouring rain and not being able to see but a little bit ahead of you coming into turn one (not NASCAR turn one, but the roadcourse turn one, MUCH harder)

I am planning to attend this years 24 hour race...I hope it doesnt rain. It did the last time I went and it doesnt make it any more fun

This is not racing in the rain, but sometimes on a wet track. Notice the guy shifting with a lever next to the steering wheel. Race track was built in 1926 !

When I first saw that video about 6 months ago, I commented "MEAN MAN ! Poor little car !!"
Then I rethought...it was MADE for that crap. like a Husky sleeping in the snow that won't come indoors.
    Wheeoooo.

... Who was that, in the jet dragster, that lost both legs in a rain crash ???
    ... All the Federalees say,
... We could have had him, any day,
... But who would haul our aerospace freight, away.
