I am guilty of being the world'sworst unprepared racer at times. I couldnot even find time last week to dopreventative maint. I have towork as much as possible now because this is the time of year when I have to "make it" because winterscan be slow in my business.
<DIV>Here are folks that deserve my "Glad to be a Racer Award"</DIV>
<DIV>Mike Hubsher came down from PA to help me run the race, run errandsand find parts I forgot to bring. When he was not helping me, (which was not often) I told him to go out and find some work amongst the pits.</DIV>
<DIV>Eddie Gonder, staged next to us and was a God-send. He had his hands full with his ProMod. I have never met him beforebut he took time to give me parts and would not take a dime of my money. He let us use his scooter to push me back and forth when my 4-wheeler took a dump.</DIV>
<DIV>Mimmo Marciano was there helping Eddie and we knew each other. I met Mimmo in 2007 whenhe loaned me parts off his spare ProMod engine so I could go another round in a Super Comp race! While he was helping Eddie tune his ProMod, he spent nearly every spare moment helping me with carb tuning and ignition gremlins. Wow, he's an animal!</DIV>
<DIV>Mike kept checking on Tyler andRichie Cammock to see if they needed anything with their family-funded ProMod. Along with their Dad they are suchdown-to-earth people and they treat you like family, too. I had ignition gremlins and it would cause the bike to bog real bad. So I overcompensated with a softer clutch a while back. When the power came back I burned up the clutch on Saturday. I asked Mike to see if the Cammock boys had a spare for sale. Before I could go see them, they brought me a set of really good fibers and steels, looked like their best set of spares. Would not take a dime of my money!</DIV>
<DIV>I felt guilty about all of these people taking time out to helpthis struggling ProET racer. But I was raised to always be grateful. If them or any other racer at the track needed anything off my bike to go another round, I would do it without reservation.</DIV>
<DIV>That is why I am proud to race with these folks and why I love this sport.</DIV>Edited by: Dave A
Been on both ends of this several times at the races it gives me hope that we can work together to pull this country together. Good things happen to good people.
