gs1100 round tube VS. 1150 square tube

who can tell me what frame is a better choice for a small tire conversion and why, the round 1100 frame or the 1150 square frame.

The 1150 frames are lighter. That is why they were chosen by the Pro Street builders when running GS motors. Other than that, no advantage one or the other. Well, except that the 1150 bodywork looks the best if you have to use stock body work! LOL! Ray.

Also square tube frames are stronger, less flex.....Mike

yeah i figured the square frame was stronger, going back to my MX days honda 250r square tube frames were 2nd to none. My small tire is an 1150 frame, talked to a guy with one last year at US131 and he swore up and down that the square frames will head shake more than the round,.... didnt make much sense to me.

I have a 1150 based bike with a turbo. The 1150 cradle seems smaller and it is difficult to fit the draw thru turbo set up on an 1150 cradle. Just my $.02

I would have thought that the round tube frame will be stronger as it uses a near continuous loop rather than having square bits welded on at the bottom of the backbone. When i say stronger i don't mean less flex, but integrity.

I'm not an expert, but i have built and ridden 2 round tube backhalf bikes and both handle fine ....... so far I would'nt hesitate to use either.
