Al, you looked good in National Dragster!
I have owned two hjc helmets and have nothing but good to say about both. But i just can't get away from the looks of the Simpson super bandit or the drag bandit. Ive yet to try one on but ive always heard that Simpson is top-notch stuff.
What someone earlier said about fit is spot on!
Try on many and see which one is shaped to your head the best.
Back to the HJC thing - My last race helmet, which I used last season and the four before it, was an Arai. A 500$ helmet (for plain white! then I spent just under 200 on having it painted), and it felt SO NICE!
I bought a 80$ HJC and it felt just as nice on my head. It was different, not as soft all over, just a different sort of lining, but still fit just as good to me, feels fantastic.
Thank you for all your responses and as I said they were all highly appreciated.
I conclude that I should get a helmet that fist perfectly but affordable and there are a whole lot of reliable online stores where I can buy these affordable helmets.
Again, thank you.![]()
I would say "I've owned them all" but I won't ever purchase a helmet which is "seamed" down the center no matter if it is Snell certified or DOT certified. I used to run all Shoei on the street and Simpson on the strip, but switched to Scorpion on the strip riding Pro Mod when I found that my chin was not sufficiently protected in the Simpson. I love the Bandit & Super Bandit, but the thought of coming off and my chin being the first thing to hit the ground changed my mind. Scorpion helmets have gone up in price since I purchased 3 or 4 years ago so I'm going to have to take a second look when I buy for next season, but that new carbon fiber helmet that just came out might be a must if it's super light and fits good. The Scorpion helmet I had last was hands down the best fitting helmet, comfortable, good vision area, etc. of any helmet I have ever owned.
