Hello. Ive got two sets of cam buckets. One set is oem kz650 and the other set is aftermarket sob buckets. Im not positive on which set is which and was wondering how to tell the difference ?
Been a long time but look at the underside. Stock should be flat from the edge to the raised "button". Aftermarket has a taper to the "button". puts more meat to the top of the bucket.
There may have been some manu. that did things different than the others.
If you have a stock shim on top bucket laying around, look up inside. The 650 should look exactly the same.
Ok i thought i had it figured out but i looked again and confused myself. one set of SOB buckets has an indent in the bottom to hold the shim and is about .200" shorter in height than the other two types. the other set of SOB has no indent (i guess the retainer holds the shim) and is the same height as the set of stock SOT buckets. im guessing the short set with the indent is the aftermarket set?
The short one with the indent is the old Andrews buckets designed for the their large base circle cams.
Marion has it right...
I plan on running andrews 6x and 9x cams. What size is the large base circle?
The base circle on those is believe is 1.100" or 1.110" and you will have to use the shorter Andrews buckets with them.
So i lucked out with the parts i bought? Thats a first.
