NED TOP BIKE SERIES RESULTS: July 8th event

Beautiful 75 degree weather was on hand for the 5th race of the New England Dragway Top Bike Series. This being the halfway point saw many moves in the points battle.

Qualifying was lead by Ed Hughes Nitrous S/C Kawasaki with a .401 react time. High Mph once again was held by the ProMod of Pete Trick at 165.44 mph. A new face in attendance was the AHDRA modified of Paul Gregoire from Sheldon's HD in the Worcester, Ma. area. Rick Muise (AHDRA Mod) from R&R Cycle was also in attendance in test sessions working on new tire/clutch combinations. 1999 #2 TopBike points racer Steve White was also doing testing to make his comeback after a snowmobile accident this past winter.

In eliminations from round 2 we saw Ed Hughes take a bye, ever-improving Dave Lambert losing to Gary Russell, Pete Dyer over the Jim Mayo ZX-11 Razor , Russ Parsons over Phil Baillargeon and in a close one John Civatarese breaking out by .002 losing to Chris MacLaurin.

Semi-Finals current points leader Pete Dyer threw his best light (.412) at Gary Russell but the Russell machine still motored by with a 8.57 (8.55 dial) to a 10.06 (9.97 dial). Chris MacLaurin earned a bye into the Finale. By the way Chris is the New England Dragway and Oxford Plains bracket points leader. He is running the ex-Stephanie Reeves bracket bike.

In the Finals it was all Russell again running his 3rd consecutive 8.57 (8.55 dial) to roll by Chris and his 9.96 (9.92 dial). Both drivers had almost identical react times.

Gary Russell takes home approximately $500 and is now in first place. No one has still one 2 races yet. A different winner at every TopBike race since 1999. The GRC Perfect $500. Bonus is still up for grabs.

Next race is Sunday July 16. See you there.
