AMA/Prostar Recognized by Military
Free admission for military, gets motorcycle drag racing national acclaim

Since 2002, AMA/Prostar has offered free admission for military personnel at all races. This program was today recognized by Richard B. Meyers, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the U.S. Department of Defense.

AMA/Prostar races are now official events as part of Operation Tribute to Freedom. Operation Tribute to Freedom is an officially recognized
program that includes a list of over 1000 events that pay or have paid tribute to the military for their dedication and service. To be part of
this, corporations and citizens must have submitted their special events or tributes to the Department of Defense for consideration. AMA/Prostar is proud to have been recognized.

Keith Kizer, President and CEO of AMA/Prostar, said that all serving members of the U.S. military would be given free spectator admission to
all remaining events in the 2003 season. This applies to both active duty personnel and to persons serving in the reserve components. A
special, daily adult spectator pass will be available for only $10 to family members, retirees and Department of Defense (DoD) civilian employees. To take advantage of this special offer, members will be required to present a valid military I.D. card at the gate.

"We want to do something for the men and women who have dedicated themselves to defending our nation," said Kizer, "especially now, with all that has happened since September 11th. We included reservists, because so many of them have been ordered to active duty, and they truly are an integral part of our nation‚s defense. These people are sacrificing in ways most of us don‚t even recognize, much less
appreciate. We decided to include family members in this offer, so our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines can afford to bring the whole
family. Those family members are part of the team, and they give up a lot, too, when Mom or Dad are deployed."

"Our remaining events are located reasonably near significant military installations -Fort Knox and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base
(Indianapolis, IN), McGuire Air Force Base (Atco, NJ), Maxwell Air Force Base (Montgomery, AL) and Naval Air Station Jacksonville (Gainesville,FL). We certainly hope some of our service members will act upon this offer. They'll see some awesome machinery and great racing, and we'll do our best to make them feel like part of the Prostar family."

The four remaining 2003 AMA/Prostar events:

  • The Pingel Thunder Motorcycle Nationals at Indianapolis, Indiana, August 9-10
  • The Orient Express US Motorcycle Nationals at Atco, New Jersey, September 6-7
  • The Schnitz Fall Nationals at Montgomery, Alabama, October 4-5
  • The Prostar World Finals at Gainesville, Florida, November 14-16

August 9-10
AMA/Prostar Pingel Thunder Motorcycle Nationals
Indianapolis Raceway Park, Indianapolis, IN

For the 14th year, AMA/Prostar will host an all-motorcycle national event in the home or racing, Indianapolis Raceway Park.

NHRA's Indianapolis Raceway Park is one of the most historic tracks in the timeline of motorcycle drag racing, as it was home to legendary motorcycle drag racing pioneer, Elmer Trett.

Pingel Enterprise, the event sponsor, is the largest manufacturer, specializing in Drag and Street Performance Products for motorcycles. Their full line of fuel valves, air shifters, wheel chocks, switches and controls have become the world standard, and found on all of the top drag racing motorcycles.

More than 500 racers in 13 categories. Featuring Top Fuel bikes, the quickest motorcycle class in the world with speeds exceeding 230 mph, 6-second, nitrous oxide powered, Pro Mods, turbocharged Funny Bikes, factory hot rod Pro Stocks, showroom stock street bikes, and several others in side-by-side racing. Also, manufacturers row features top vendors and manufacturers on display.

The Pingel Thunder Nationals will feature Top Fuel and Larry “Spiderman” McBride, the first person to eclipse the five-second barrier. AMA/Prostar is the only series in the United States that Top Fuel motorcycles in a championship series. No doubt, Kent Stotz and Rickey Gadson will again be battling it out in Streetbike Shootout to see who has the fastest, quickest street legal bike in the world. Only at a AMA/Prostar event can you be sure to see the fastest, quickest bikes on the planet.

A ticket is a pit pass and gives you full access to speak to the riders and teams that are making history in the world of motorcycle drag racing.

Streetbike Chaos

Streetbike riders that do not choose to enter the race day event can pass tech procedures and buy a pass for the evening Streetbike Chaos. This is for the hard-core street racer. It's a compromise for the rider who has spent lots of money building the ultimate performance machine, yet looks away from conventional racing.

Important Note to 600 SS Riders

600 SS Riders,

I have just spoke with Bruce at VP. He suggest that we use VP MR1 as an alternative spec fuel for 600 SuperSport for the remainder of the year, since we are going to allow a VP product in addition to Nutec. This is all due to Nutec not having fuel to us prior to first round of qualifying at Norwalk. Next year's spec fuel and blend will be reviewed at the end of the year. So, VP MR1 or Nutec can be used at all remaining races.

I See Stunt People!
For the third year, the motorcycle stunt team TiltedVisions will be once again entertaining the crowds at the AMA/Prostar hosted Pingel Thunder Nationals, in the home of racing, Indianapolis Raceway Park Aug 9 - 10.This popular Indy stunt riding team has been building national recognition for 4 years by performing at drag strips, parades, charityevents, and national competitions. The team, consists of Bill Buffington, Aaron Mull, Print Givens, Lee Collins. Media contact for the team, Print Givens says "We enjoy the event because we get to be at the same venue with many popular drag racers, we get a great response from the crowd, and of course the smell of burning rubber whether it be from our tires or not." The team will have a display selling their newly released video 2 Far Back as well as "I See Stunt People" t-shirts.

Local Riders Invited to Compete
Today’s high-powered sport motorcycles are capable of 200 MPH top end speeds off the showroom floor, this makes them prime candidates for the drag strip, not Main Street USA!.

Racers are welcome off the street in our Street E.T. event and others depending on qualifications. By allowing these riders to compete shows that the racetrack is the only place to safely and legally practice racing skills. In addition they have the chance to win cash prizes and awards. Riders must be licensed drivers, and have a complete set of attached leather jacket and pants, leather gloves, above the ankle boots and an ignition cutoff switch. New racers must take a qualifying pass and conform to basic safety regulations and a tech inspection. For advance information, they can call 256-852-1101.
