God looked down on MIR this weekend and said, "It is good!" Sunny skies and a high temperature of 80 degrees enticed everyone to MIR this Sunday for the Fall Superbike Showdown. Would you believe it again! MIR's popular series has another RECORD CROWD! A total of 358 motorcycle entries, and more than 2100 spectators! This is the biggest bike count MIR has ever had. Many racers told MIR promoters that they loved the completely new MIR repaved track surface that was done last month. The track hooks harder than before and is as smooth as glass from the starting line to the end of the shut down area. As a matter of fact, Outlaw Pro Street riders Guy Thacker and Richard Eddinger hooked so hard their bikes stood straight up at the 1/8 mile, and John Collins did a wheelie from the starting line and veered to the left and actually hit the wall! All riders & machines were ok, and completed eliminations. With 358 bikes we opened the gates opened at 9 am and the race went to just after 9:00 pm, but we got it all done! Thanks to the entire MIR hard working officials.

Jim Shifflett of Woodbridge, VA was your Quick 32 E.T. winner defeating Durwood Rawlings from Prince Frederick, MD collecting $1,000. Andy Baumbach of Fairfax Station, VA took the Superbike E.T. victory over Ronnie Procopio from Waldorf, MD. In the $2,000 Superbike-vs-Quick32 Run-off, Andy Baumbach won his 2nd event at MIR defeating Jim Shifflett.

Miami FL was in the house on Sunday, as Florida rider Bernard Cannon defeated the #1 points leader John Collins from Selma, NC in the Outlaw Pro Street Final. Collins ran a stout 7.93 @ 168mph, but wasn't enough to hold off Cannon with a 7.68 @ 173mph.

Ronnie Procopio from Waldorf, MD defeated Clay Daives from Richmond, VA in the Streetbike ET Final.

Don't forget to mark your calendars for the SUPERBIKE SHOWDOWN FINALS on Sunday, September 17th. This will be the last MIR bike event this year.
