What
a day we had today, as we hosted our annual New York State
Championship/National Dragster Challenge event! With top payouts
and the coveted NHRA "Wally" on the line, over 300
competitors were on hand to give it their best shot at winning
the coveted titles.
Jeff Darrow scored
the Pro Bike win in the ESTA Safety Park New York State Championship/National
Dragster Challenge in Cicero N.Y. and padded his points lead
in the process on his '01 Kawasaki drag bike. Jeff had a .543
reaction and ran a 9.305 on his 9.28 dial-in to defeat Tom
Frank on his '76 Kawasaki. Tom had a .574 light, but ran under
his 9.43 dial-in with a 9.390 at 137.15 mph for the runner-up
spot. Bernie Kaier and Tom Walsh were the semifinalists.
Jeff also won the
honors of representing ESTA in the Race of Champions for the
Bike/Sled class at the NHRA Division 1 Bracket Finals. Jeff
and Pro Sled point leader Kevin Wuest ran a run-off to decide
the Race of Champions entry. Kevin's uncharacteristic red
light start decided the race, as Jeff had a .535 reaction
time and cruised to a 9.30 pass on his 9.28 dial-in to take
the win.
