V-RODS QUALIFY IN MEMPHIS
Another rainy race
day for the racers of the NHRA. This time, it was Memphis,
Tennessee. Before the showers started on Sunday, both V-Rod
riders were able to qualify for the show. GT qualified 11th
with a 7.216 et /179.42 mph run and Andrew qualified 5th with
his 7.157 et / 180.50 mph pass. Rain showers hit on Sunday,
delaying the final rounds of racing until Monday.
Entering the eliminations
on an unusual Monday, the V-Rod's were well positioned in
the ladder. Hines won his first round of eliminations with
a reaction time of 0.008 seconds and the fastest run of the
round with a 7.168 et / 177.60 mph to beat Sean Conner. GT
was eliminated in the first round by Mike Berry with his 7.266
et vs. Mike's 7.229 et.
In the second round,
Hines had another strong competitor with Fred Collis. Andrew
knew he had to be on, and he unfortunately jumped the gun
and the light with a 0.015 red light, handing the win to Fred.
Reggie Showers went on to win the event in at Memphis over
Fred Collis' red light in the finals. That's the third race
Reggie has won in a row - the Pro Stock Bike Klash, Indy and
now Memphis.
Stay tuned to see
what happens at the next race October 3-5 in Reading, PA.
GT and Andrew will be pushing for a win in the NHRA Pro Stock
Bike class. Andrew is currently ranked 8th and GT is 11th
in the Pro Stock Bike ladder with just 3 races to complete
the season.
