FOR THE SUZUKI HAYABUSA

Superbike Mike Engineering is proud to announce these new BIG BORE THROTTLE BODIES for the Hayabusa featuring CNC machined 48mm butterflies. The stock OEM throttle bodies are CNC machined from a 46mm bore to a nearly 10% larger 48mm bore. With our finish work and radiusing, there is a flow gain of over 16%.

This will provide an increase of 6 rear wheel horsepower as indicated in the graph above. The biggest gain is in the 8000 to 11000 RPM range, where it is needed most. This modification provides worthwhile gains with no adverse affect on reliability. However, you will notice accelerated tire wear!! Drive-ability is not hampered either, as the system is even more responsive than stock. From the graph, you can see the throttle was turned on earlier and shows no trace of a stumble. You can expect a reduction in quarter mile ET of about a tenth and a half and a gain of 2 to 3 mph.

According to SBM, a 6 horsepower gain is seen on a wheel dyno

The graph shows an average stock motor with an aftermarket pipe, air cleaner and re-mapping system. It showed 164 hp with the stock throttle bodies and 170 with the 48mm throttle bodies and minor map changes. Similar gains could be expected on any Hayabusa, more with thorough tuning. It’s basically a ‘bolt-on’ deal, just like aftermarket carbs.

The modification work is on an exchange basis and includes matching the rubber manifolds connecting the throttle bodies to the head. A new fuel injection map is provided as a starting point for tuning. If you have an unusual map that you like, we can modify that. There is a 2-3 day turnaround for systems shipped in as removed from the motorcycle. A turnkey package including dyno testing and tuning is available for motorcycles delivered to the shop.
