Steve Johnson Gets
Red Light In ReadingThe very cold temperatures at the rain
delayed Lucas Oil Nationals played into a very tricky weekend.
Johnson had just one shot at qualifying on a 61-degree racetrack
Saturday to make the field.
The K&N Filters
team made a great 7.23et pass that put them in 12th for Sunday's
show. However, Sunday's eliminations were not as favorable
to the team. Johnson raced Michael Phillips in the first round
and had a negative .003 (red) reaction time to Michael‚s
.055 (green) ending Johnson‚s day.
"There is nothing as frustrating as missing a perfect
light (.000) by three thousands of a second," said Johnson.
"We had a great bike for Sunday. At half-track I saw
the win light on in the other lane and knew I must have gone
red. At that point I just let off the throttle, but the team
and I know the bike was fast enough to win. For now we will
do some testing to see how we can be more consistent with
my reaction times."
