Harley
Drag Racer Chris Streeter Wins AHDRA
Pro Fuel National and Eastern Division Championships
Cleveland's Chris
Streeter and the FBM Racing Team locked up both the National
and Eastern Division Championships in the All Harley Drag
Racing Association's (AHDRA) Pro Fuel class last weekend in
a hard-fought race at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North
Carolina (October 4 - 5). Streeter ran several of his best
times of the season and advanced to the Semi-Final round in
the culmination of the East-Coast racing season. Tallying
720 points for the season so far, Streeter will wrap up the
season in Las Vegas well ahead of the second place Texan Mark
Conner with 550 points.
Streeter launched
the 2003 season having advanced to the Final Round of competition
in his last three AHDRA races of 2002. That streak was extended
through July with a remarkable 9 consecutive Final Round appearances
and two wins (at Las Vegas and Denver) in AHDRA Pro Fuel competition.
Once that streak was broken in Maryland in July, Streeter
suffered a series of disappointments and mechanical problems
in the middle of the 2003 season. With belts breaking, ignition
problems and computer mishaps, Streeter kept forging ahead
until he had worked out the gremlins one by one and finished
his East Coast campaign strong in Rockingham. Said Streeter
"Everyone in drag racing runs into these kinds of problems.
You've just got to keep at it if you want to eventually come
out on top."

Streeter
thanked his 2003 season sponsors: Barnett Clutches,
Chromatic Inc., Clone Machine and Cycle, Gellner Engineering,
Harris Mold & Die, HDAfterparts.com, HMF Engineering,
JIM'S USA, Kowalski Heat Treating, Little Kings Tavern, Nology
Engineering Inc., Redding Web Design, S & S Cycle, Spectro
Oil, Streeter Technologies and Vanson Leathers.
He especially
thanked the FBM Racing team of Jeff Oblack (Crew Chief), Alan
Zuzek, Matt Streeter and Chip Redding.
Streeter and FBM
Racing will head back out west for the final race of the season
in Las Vegas October 19 - 20. He is looking forward to a strong
finish to his best drag racing season ever. Of the season
finale, Streeter said "Las Vegas is a great track. There
is always a big crowd, and the racers are celebrating another
season. We are going out there to win at the track, and hopefully
we'll bring some of that luck back to the casinos." As
the Pro Fuel Champion, Streeter will appear on ESPN2's "Inside
Drag Racing" wrap-up of the AHDRA season (time and date
to be announced). Streeter will be honored along with the
whole Harley Drag Racing community at the AHDRA's annual banquet
to be held Monday, October 21 at Sam's Town Casino.
Streeter and FBM
Racing have scheduled appearances at several upcoming national
motor sports trade shows and exhibitions to round out 2003,
and then it is back to the shop. Looking forward to 2004,
Streeter said "This is a competitive sport. If you're
standing still, you are really moving backward. We have some
big changes in store for 2004, and we are planning to fight
hard to defend our championship!"
Streeter's
past honors include: 2001 AHDRA Pro Fuel National
Runner-up, 2001 & 2002 AHDRA Pro Fuel Eastern Division
Champion and 2002 AHDRA Pro Fuel Wrench of the Year Award
(voted by fellow racers and crews). Best elapsed time (1/4
mile): 6.839. Top MPH: 197.
