Team Millholland
On October 25th
and 26th, the last event at Maxton has came and gone
with three new records for Team Millholland & Haig Racing.
Due to work schedules, this was only our second trip to the
E.C.T.A.'s Monster Mile for 2003.

During the March meet with speeds in the 203mph range by riding
brothers Zack and Chad Millholland, bike owner Tim
Haig knew more power was needed from his Kawasaki ZX12R streetbike.
After meeting with Rob Muzzy at the Atlanta Prostar race,
it was decided that Muzzys new Race Cams and Pro Pipe would
likely give the extra horsepower required to post the speeds
needed.
With the new cams and pipe installed on his 1361cc Muzzy stroker
kit engine, Tim made a shakedown run of 192+mph and handed
the keys to Zack & Chad for some record attempts.
On Saturday, Chad
ran 207.64mph to bump the record in the APS/G-1650 class which
also netted him membership into ECTA's 200MPH Club, joining
his brother Zack and father Dan. The family was recognized
that evening during the awards presentation as being the first
father and son(s) to set motorcycle records nationally at
speeds in excess of 200mph.
With rain threatening
on Sunday morning, Zack ran a 204.67mph in high humidity to
set a new record in the APS/G-2000 class.
Since the bike
was running so well, Tim decided the team would go for another
record in the MPS/G-3000 class. With Chad on board and in
4th gear, a coolant hose blew off the rear of the engine.
With no way of knowing, Chad stayed in the throttle and went
through the first timing light at 208.75mph with antifreeze
all over him, the bike and rear tire. The bike slowed
through the second light but still had an average speed of
207.50mph and good enough for a record. Close call for sure.
After a clean up
and coolant top-off, Zack climbed on the bike and raised his
record to 207.62mph and the day had quickly came to an
end.
We are already making plans for returning to Maxton next Spring
and looking forward to more fun and fast runs.
We would like to thank Richard Goins of Alcoa Good Times
Kawasaki and Chris Hill of Performance Psycle in Knoxville,
TN for their help and hard work to make these records possible
and also want to thank Lydia for her support and being the
Team Mom.
