EARLY AWARDS...
Columbus, Ohio (April 25, 1999) - Ray Metzger rode his box-stock GSXR-1300 from Alabama, on an eight hour trek down the highway, to compete in the Street E.T. category. "I won't race a bike, unless I can ride it there" noted Metzger, "because otherwise it is not a true Streetbike." he said. Well, at the end of the day, he found himself in the winners circle, and became the first person to win top honors in any type of competition with a Hayabusa!
AMA/Prostar National Event Tech Director Carl Stieffenhofer selected the bike to receive the "Best Engineered" award, noting that the bike was "a meticulously engineered race bike, from the factory".
