2022 Las Vegas Motor Speedway Sportsman Motorcycle Review

The 2022 Summit ET motorcycle series at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway had a total of 12 races where 3 of the low point totals could be dropped. There were 25 bikes/sleds that took points this year. With the closing of Fontana, CA drag strip a couple of riders decided to make LVMS their new home track for the Summit ET series.





One of those Fontana transplants ended up winning the championship, Aaron Pine.

Aaron Pine started off the year with a pair of wins in races 1 & 2.

Pine, La Mirada, CA resident took four wins, and two second-place finishes to pull away from the field for the season championship. He started off the season with two wins the first weekend of the year, taking out Jeremy Bates in race #1 in the final and Mike Pinkston in race #2. He also doubled up wins in races #9 & #10 against Rick Newport and Matt Fredericks. He finished up the season with two second places against Jeremy Bates who won the weekend with races #11 & #12.

Rick Newport, Bluffdale, UT finished in second place with a consistent season, winning one race, #3 and finishing second in #9. Third place went to Larry Mota, Orem, UT with two wins, races #4 & #8 and two second places in races #5 & #7.

The rest of the top ten were #4 and defending champion, Matt Fredericks, Tooele, UT, with the top finish a second in race #10. #5 David Phillips, Las Vegas, NV winning race #6 on his Harley. #6 was Jeremy Bates, Vineyard, UT the aforementioned two wins and a second place. #7 was Kahea Woods, North Las Vegas, NV with one win at race #5. #8 finisher was Leo Shaver with a second place in race #6. Scott Smith, Denver, CO was #9 with a consistent string of races all year. #10 was Tom Medlin, La Mirada, CA with one win at race #7 and two seconds at races #4 & #8.

Jeremy Bates won the final two races of the weekend and picked up the “King of the Track” win.
