AMA/Prostar announces 2006 for Pro Street
V-Twin Bikes Stop Short of Nuclear Power

In anticipation of the 2006 rulebook, Prostar
gives you a peek at some of the changes in store for next season. The entire
rulebook, in a PDF format, is scheduled for released the week after the World
Finals with the printed version scheduled to hit the mailbox by December 1st.

As the originators of the Pro Street category
(formally known as Streetbike Shootout) Prostar has always worked to achieve
a level playing field in the class. But with the current domination of turbo
entries, Prostar is proud to announce new allowances for nitrous competitors
and the inclusion of supercharger, V-Twin and unlimited Liter bike combinations.
The changes listed for nitrous bikes in 2006 will also be allowed in the remaining
events for 2005.

Nitrous only 4-cylinder entries will now be allowed
to utilize a slider clutch and an automatic transmission. V-Twin entries will
have a full run of aftermarket chassis, aftermarket production engines, unlimited
weight, 70-inch wheelbase, multiple power adders, intercooling, sliders, auto
trans, alcohol… well, just about anything short of nuclear power. 1000cc
production entries will have a lot of the same enticements with the exception
of chassis and engine. Superchargers have been talked about, but yet to be seen,
so the invitation is here following the same rules as turbocharged entries.

The goal is to challenge individuals to raise
the bar in streetbike warfare. To make it even harder on the turbo guys, we
are throwing on the lead by requiring a 685lbs weight limit including bike and
rider. Although, this is one rule that will arguably to debated prior to the
rulebook being printed. All entries will now be required to have a stock headlight.
