Wonderful weather and spectacular spectator
turn out set the mood for a great AMRA summer national at Beech Bend Raceway
Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky June 25-27.
Racers filed in from the north and south between
the thousands of campers late Thursday and into Friday for a spot to set up
camp for themselves. Once the racing had ceased Sunday afternoon Marty and Janey
were going back to AMRA headquarters in Michigan to rewrite the AMRA record
books. 13 different M.P.H. or E.T records had been broken. John Martin of Ace
and Eights Harley-Davidson took his nitro funny bike over the 200 M.P.H mark.
Gene Lummus horsepower contributed to a couple rewrites while the fleet of Huffman
race bikes not only took a record home but also a few wins. Bryan Huffman was
back in form taking a record and the win trying to close the gap on Mike Nolen
aboard the Flora Racing bike in the pro modified class. When Mike Nolen is not
on the pro modified bike he continues to dominate the modified class. Action
heated up in the sportsman classes with records falling and round after round
of close eliminations. With only two points races left the AMRA travels to Mid-Michigan
Motorplex in Stanton, Michigan July 9th-11th.
