Brown/Bradley Top Fuel Motorcycle Team – End of Summer Report

The Brown/Bradley team continues to see growth and progress for the 2018 drag racing season.

In June the team had a successful exhibition at Eddyville Raceway Park’s ‘Night of Fire’ along with Sam Wills and the Nitro Conspiracy Team.

After that, they headed to Dragway 42 for the Man Cup Fast by Gast Nationals for some eight-mile drag racing competition. They landed the #3 qualifying position despite a few struggles. On their best qualifying pass, they were only under power to the 100′ mark, but Brown still ran a 6.38 at 207mph pass. “I have been struggling to stop the bike and had thought it was the small four-piston caliper we are running, opposed to the six-piston most teams are using,” stated Brown. “We discovered a problem with the rear caliper that was only allowing two pistons to activate.”

On Sunday the team was laddered with Chris Hand on the Redneck Express for the first round of eliminations. Chris made a solid 6.36 at 212mph run against their slowing 6.70 at 180mph. The bike suffered some clutch damage on that run to end their weekend. Brown sent his clutch home with the McBride brothers of Cycle Specialists to have it ready for their next event.

In the weeks after the bike was transported to the Monster Race Products shop in Kansas for some between race maintenance, repairs, and some changes to the fuel system. The bike is now ready with a fresh engine in the bike. The spare engine has been freshened up with new MTC pistons, valves, all new bearings, and new APE Titanium valve spring retainers. The clutch has also been repaired, and a new clutch cannon installed.

With the new clutch and fuel system, they should have a competitive motorcycle for the first time since they started last season. The team was looking forward to making solids runs at Galot Motorsports Park for the Man Cup MTC Nationals this weekend. However, Hurricane Florence had other plans and our event was canceled. “Our thoughts are with our friends on the East Coast during this difficult time,” stated Brown. The team will be back to racing in November at South Georgia Motorsports for the Man Cup Finals November 15-18, 2018.

“Our team continues to learn and improve,” said Brown. “And I am very thankful for all the help and advice we have received this year, it’s been invaluable. We are also very excited to welcome Rick Gorski and Firecore Ignition Wires and Jay Eshbach of APE to the team with product support.”

“I also want to thank my team for their support and tireless work ethic to keep our team moving forward. The progress we have made couldn’t be done without these guys!”
