Cycle Werkz: Mid-Season Delivers Results
Team Cycle Werkz rider Brandon Mitchan and tuner Scott Crawford started the 2017 drag racing season with many challenges. A new DME Racing turbo kit and new advances in our engine development program brought more power to the table for this season. Our new set-up made most of the previous tune up data obsolete and had us scratching our heads in tire smoke and ridiculous wheelies.
The beginning of the season started off at a steady pace and then at the IDBL July race we had the traction to finally turn up the power delivering Brandon his best ET to date of 6.93! However, that event did not yield a win when we took a close loss to DME/Pro Stock Inc rider Jeremy Teasley in the second round. With only four passes on the rain shortened weekend, and knowing the times would keep dropping the team stayed on the road and ran the next weekend at NHDRO Indianapolis.
With steady improvements during qualifying, and Brandon able to keep the front wheel down we finally hit our stride and ran our all time best of 6.88 at 214mph to take the number four qualifying position. We were excited to head into eliminations the next day, but sadly the rain followed from Maryland and the event was postponed until September.
Brandon climbs the Dragbike.com/Orient Express Pro Street GOAT list to a number 16 spot with the 6.88 ET. Every event the motorcycle keeps getting quicker, and our the team looks forward to the next event to continue our progress!
Racing is a team sport and it would not be possible without the support of our friends and sponsors like Dimey Eddinger, Andy Sawyer, and all the guys at DME Racing, Cole Seitzinger with Penske Shocks, Skip Dowling at Orient Express, Brandi and the entire Dragbike.com team, Res Cylinder Heads, Two Wheel Werkz, and San Antonio Raceway.
