The Hog’s Gone Wild (HGW) Season season kicked off this weekend at Silver Dollar Raceway, in Reynolds, GA on Friday with testing, grudge racing, and a gambler’s race.
The weather had other plans on Friday as a light spitting of precipitation halted racing around 3:15 pm. Track drying and services began immediately and by 4:30, the racing was ready to resume.
At the end of the day, Dusty Brazel of What-A-Graphic in Georgia was the winner of Friday’s Gambler’s Race. Barry Pryer Sr of Virgina took runner-up, Stanley Russell broke in the Semi-Final round.
After 7:00 pm a catered dinner was served up for the racers by the very accommodating HGW staff. Hat’s off to Lashonda Carter, Roger Edgerton’s better half, and the entire HGW staff for their hard work and serving the racers like family!
The Friday night bonfire and DJ made the night come alive and there were many Manson Jars of cheer and beers consumed on Friday night. At 6:00 am the following morning, the smoldering remains of the night before were still glowing ambers, with memories aplenty for all who participated. A good time was had by all into the wee hours of the morning.
On Saturday Anthony Persico, track manager, and the Silver Dollar Raceway staff were out on the race surface close to 1 hour before sunrise, blowing off the track, power sweeping and attending the grooming needs of the race surface.
At 8:30 am there were bikes in the lanes for open T/T, but Mother Nature had other ideas and presented an ever-so-slight sprinkle that held the track from going hot till almost 11:00 am. The Silver Dollar Raceway staff kept all the racers safe till they were 100% sure they had a proper racing surface.
Once racing resumed the action was fast and furious all day and well into the evening hours as it was close to 9:00 pm before the final rounds of racing were complete.
In Pro Street John Cabal of Huckleberry Racing won the class with Felipe De Loon taking the runner-up spot.
Outlaw class racing was won by Mike Beland and Marc Fricke took the R/U spot.
Hot Street was won by Marc Fricke, with Jason Broski taking second place honors.
In True Street, Orlando Williams was the winner, with #79 taking second place.
Street Class top honors were accorded to Joe Gladden over Khole Sellers.
In Non-Bagger class, Jason Crisp was top dog, over Uncle Joe Perry.
In the 6.0 Index class racing was well attended and the winner of that class was Dusty Brazel, with Butch Norwood taking second place.
In 5.60 Index class, Randall Cross was The Man! Right on his six in the final round was David Raybourn who took the runner-up finish.
ET Bracket class was a dog-fight from the first full-pull. They went round after round, well into the night. The man with the stamina and the talented tune-up to win was Maurice Gibbs who flogged that bike like he meant it every round. Stephen Walker was a worthy opponent and won runner-up in ET.
Jr Dragsters were also running at this event. In the advanced class of Jr Dragsters – Advanced, Curtis Peek won this event, with Brayden Davis taking the runner-up position. Jr Dragsters – Novice class was won by Hunter Persico, driving the very sharp-looking Silver Dollar Raceway Jr. dragster.
