Lovingood Repeats as Man Cup Pro Open Champ
Wynn, Sperlock, Otts Among Other Winners at Rock’s 190hookup.com Nationals
Leland’s Bobby Lovingood was among a quartet of North Carolina winners and Terry Wynn of Jacksonville, Fla., got a free pass to victory in the featured Pro Mod class Sunday in the 41st annual 190hookup.com Nationals at Rockingham Dragway, part of the Man Cup Motorcycle Series.
In the absence of defending champ Paul Gast, Wynn beat Tyron Lemons of Atlanta in the Pro Mod semifinals before cruising to the title when final round opponent Gerald Smith was guilty of a final round foul start.
Lovingood beat former ManCup champ Robert Giard of Gainesboro, Tenn., in the final to win for the second straight year in Pro Open. He shared the winners’ circle with fellow Carolinians Doug Laughey of Farmville, Blair Fields of Denver and Russell Dennison Jr. of Youngsville.
Scott Delong of Citra, Fla., repeated in Super Comp, as did Barry Pryer of Chesapeake, Va., in Street Fighter. Other winners included Dystany Sperlock of Goldvein, Va., in the 4.60 class and ManCup triple threat Chad Otts of Olive Branch, Miss., who won in Pro Gas but failed to reach the final round in either of the categories in which he is vying for the championship – 4.60 and Super Comp.
Johnny Ard of Indianapolis and Casey Smith of Musella, Ga., were the V-Twin winners and Chris Sulkowski of Canfield, Ohio prevailed in Saturday’s Gamblers Race.
