NDRC Delivers Another Record-Breaking Event at Gulf Western Oil Winternationals

Another capacity crowd at Willowbank Raceway has again been treated to record breaking performances from the National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) racers today as the 2026 Gulf Western Oil Winternationals – the largest championship drag racing event held outside of North America – came to a close.

In Pro Stock Bike, consistency was the name of the game for Ryan Learmonth, taking the win over Paul Andrews with a 7.430 second pass at 289.63kph to Andrews’ 8.590/179.76kph effort. Learmonth had earlier dispatched Sam Scerri (7.360/294.89kph v 7.439/297.11kph) in round one and points leader Callam Godeassi in round two (7.401/291.14kph); while Andrews had a round one solo before defeating Locky Ireland in the semis (7.639/291.77kph v 8.005/283.77kph).

In Top Fuel Motorcycle, Neville Smith took the win over John Zahra, with the issues that had plagued Zahra all weekend long continuing in the finale while Smith blazed across the line with flames coming from his bike (7.321). Smith had enjoyed two bye runs in round one and two, while Zahra had defeated a red-lighting Corey Buttigieg in round one before a semis solo.

Also on-track this weekend was a massive contingent of Aeroflow Sportsman Championship racers from all across the country. When all was said and done after four big days of racing, it was Brian Alvisio (Modified Bike, over Johnny Lewis), Lawrence Raschella (Aeroflow Junior Drag Bike, over Jetayah Chalk), and Craig Edwards (Performance Bike, over Edge Mallis).

Saturday Qualifying

In Top Fuel Motorcycle, Damian Martini continued his leading run this weekend by top qualifying with a 6.656 effort over Ian Ashelford (7.651), Neville Smith (8.829), Corey Buttigieg (13.565), Danny Rickard (23.979) and John Zahra (26.342). While it was a difficult day on track for much of the Top Fuel Motorcycle field, big performances are expected from these flame-throwing two-wheeled missiles on Sunday.

In Pro Stock Bike, championship leader and the winner of the last two Pro Stock Bike rounds, Callam Godeassi, continued his dominating form to improve in each qualifier to never be moved from the top qualifier spot, ultimately finishing out with a 7.192 second ET ahead of next quickest, Locky Ireland (7.278), Paul Andrews (7.366), Sam Scerri (7.392), Ryan Learmonth (7.435), Jason Lee (7.463), Luke Crowley (7.719) and Vanessa Rohdmann (10.948).

Friday Qualifying

Damian Martini leads the way in Top Fuel Motorcycle, with his 6.656 ET seeing him undeniably on top of the ladder currently ahead of Neville Smith (8.829), Ian Ashelford (9.048), Corey Buttigieg (13.565), Danny Rickard (23.979) and John Zahra (26.342).

In Pro Stock Bike, Callam Godeassi is on top of the ladder with a 7.252 ET set today, ahead of Paul Andrews (7.366), Locky Ireland (7.656), Luke Crowley (7.795), Ryan Learmonth (8.115), Jason Lee (8.697), Vanessa Rohdmann (10.948) and Sam Scerri (15.00).

While qualifying continues for all eight pro brackets Saturday, the Aeroflow Sportsman Championship racers have spent the last two days completing their qualifying, with Kye Badcock (Aeroflow Junior Drag Bike), Johnny Lewis (Modified Bike), and Edge Mallis (Performance Bike) securing the top qualifying honours for their respective championship brackets.
