Mark Cox Celebrates 100 Years of Harley-Davidson
and Looks Towards Chicago Race
Mark Cox, Johnny
Vickers and Mitch Cox recently drove their Harleys to Milwaukee
to participate in the 100th anniversary of Harley-Davidson.
"Since we had a little down time, we decided to take
off for the ride," said Cox. "It was an exciting
trip for me. As a dealer, I wanted to show my support and
commitment to Harley-Davidson and join in the camaraderie.
It was the most miles I've ever put on my 100th Anniversary
Electraglide Standard in one trip - about 1,865 miles. Crossroads
Harley-Davidson's own Bernie Lee built the 103 ci Screamin'
Eagle engine that ran flawless on the entire trip! Johnny
drove over 3,000 miles since he rode from Louisiana to North
Carolina, then to Milwaukee and back to Louisiana.
"We went to
Milwaukee via Chicago/Joliet to see the Route 66 Dragway we'll
be racing at September 25-28 for the NHRA event. I'm really
looking forward to the event and excited about running at
that caliber of a race track."
As part of the 100th
anniversary celebration, racer Ray Price was invited to participate
with his Top Fuel bike on display, signing autographs and
answering questions for the fans.
"It was great
to see Ray there, the first time I've seen him since his accident,"
added Cox. "It's fantastic he continually promotes the
sport of Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley racing. He's a real
leader and very popular with the Harley enthusiasts."
