The winning streak that Ian King and the Gulf Oil/Grand Prix Originals team are on (extending back to European season opener in 2013) showed little sign of ending in Germany as the Puma Yamaha propelled King to low qualifier, low ET and event win honours and it appears that an eighth European championship is now almost in reach. What is perhaps more debatable is the 252mph terminal that appeared on the second qualifying round ticket which provoked a “did it or didn’t it” debate both within the King Racing camp and the wider drag bike community. The bike was geared for speed and produced 235.97mph and 232.16mph on subsequent shots, but we’ll remain in the skeptic category on the 252 for the time being.
