Congratulations to HMI Racing for making the quickest 1000 nitrous pass in history on their Suzuki GSX-R1000 Pro Street Motorcycle. Rider Lonnie Corley ran a 7.22 at 182 mph at the MIROCK Battle Royale held at Maryland International Raceway. This was the first race that bike owner, Kenny Hogan of HMI Racing and Brian Hayes of Eastside Performance teamed up to transform the notorious ‘GI Joe’ grudge bike to a Pro Street legal machine to participate in the Battle Royale
Although the team struggled in qualifying with suspension and gearing issues, they were able qualify in the top half of the field for the B class with a 7.26. Staying consistent Lonnie ran a 7.22 making history on the 1K in the quarter finals. The team was unable to improve on that number after a loss in the semi round. However the team is planning on making the trip down to Bradenton in a few weeks for the Manufacturers Cup Final to improve this number.
