George Smith, George Bryce and the G Squared Motorsports team are continuing
their rigorous pace. Following their record setting performance on the S&S
Cycle V-Twin powered “Street Pro” bike at Bristol, TN as #1 Qualifier
(9.15 @ 145.03 mph) – 1st ever 8-second number at Bristol Dragway (8.995) ˆ
record quarter-mile (8.96) and new eighth-mile mark (5.70), they attended the
50th U.S. NHRA Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park and set the competition
back on their heels as #1 qualifier and a track record of 7.11 with the NHRA
debut of G2 rider Chip Ellis. Unfortunately, a throttle cable malfunction ended
their competition prior to the first elimination round. G Squared is not bothering
to pack up at Indy because the AHDRA Nationals are the following weekend, September
11th and 12th.

Where do you go from there? According to G Squared Motorsports owners George
Smith and George Bryce, there’s nowhere to go but quicker and faster and they
are expecting to do both at the AHDRA Joker Indy Nationals September 11th and
12th.

“We (G2 and S&S) know that there’s more in the S&S Street Pro 133
crate motor if we can continue to improve the carburetion and the fuel curve”
said George Smith. “While we compete the S&S #46 Tribute bike in the
Street Pro class (licensed, street legal, no wheelie bars), we will be testing
induction track changes to improve performance and the package we will offer
the racers to help competition.”

Not a team to take it easy at the track, George Smith went on to say that, “my
partner George Bryce had us fill out an entry for AHDRA E.T. class, which is
composed of all types of street bikes. Maybe he’s planning on running the S&S
124 powered Harley Road King again or maybe he’s got something else up his sleeve.”

Smith is referring to the bad to the bone and for sale 2004 HD Road King VFI
which put in a spectacular weekend of ET racing at the Bristol race. Piloting
a 900 lb. plus motorcycle and rider to an 11.19 e.t. @ 118.81 mph is not your
normal afternoon cruise, but this hefty brute chewed its way to the finals through
a 100 bike Syn3ET field race to the surprise and delight of the fans.

When asked what he had planned, George Bryce said “I had so much fun at
Bristol with the AHDRA gang. I’m very glad to have the chance to race and show
our new products to the racers and fans at Indy. Also, it will be great to make
runs on our NHRA Pro-Stock Buell to learn even more and let Chip obtain some
extra Œseat time’ on our Indy track record holder.”

As if over twenty passes at the last AHDRA race were not enough, Ellis will
also be putting in some track time on the G2/S&S/Star Racing Buell in the
Pro Gas class.

“We are learning a lot with our new NHRA Pro-Stock bike and we’ll probably
continue that learning curve by running it in the AHDRA Pro Gas class”
said Smith. In addition to the normal competitors, I’ve heard our Wisconsin
buddy, Tom Bradford, from Thunder Eagle Racing will be there with his NHRA bike.
I wonder if the Vance & Hines Screamin’ Eagle V-Rods will hang around and
also compete at the AHDRA. Indy is their home track and it would make the Pro-Gas
competition lively and exciting.”

Always one to be straight to the point, Ellis stated, “I am very excited
to be attending another AHDRA race riding for the G2 Team. I’m looking forward
to going fast and hope to reset the record.”

Qualifying for the AHDRA Joker Indy Nationals begins at the Indianapolis Raceway
Park Saturday 9:00 a.m. (September 11), with Pro Eliminations getting underway
on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (September 12).
