Defending NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Bike champion Geno Scali of Team Trim-Tex is poised and focused to defend the number-one plate in 2004.

“Our mission is plain and simple,” Scali said. “We want to repeat.”

Scali recognizes that the nature of the Pro Stock Bike category in 2004 will be much like the parity-riddled, competitiveness displayed last season.

“It’s going to be another one of those year’s where anyone that qualifies is going to have a chance to win on Sunday,” Scali said. “That’s what makes it such a great class.”

Chicago’s cold winter months have been anything but an “off-season”, with the team working feverishly to make developments in the racing program.

“We’re working hard on a new state-of-the-art bike that should be even lighter than the one we ran last year,” Scali said. “We plan to start the season on last year’s bike and we hope to have the new one done by the first few races.”

No personnel switches have been made and the 2003 squad remains intact with Scali driving, Earl Deglopper tuning, and Joe Koenig serving as team manager.

“We did a lot of good things last year but we’re still concentrating on making our team even stronger,” Scali said. “There’s always room for improvement.”

Scali’s winter has also been filled with many promotional activities and appearances that come along with winning the championship. Next Scali will fly to Japan in mid-February where he will be recognized along with other Suzuki-mounted champions from all over the motorcycle industry.

“The champ gets to do a lot of cool things,” Scali said. “I’m honored to represent my team and sponsors at these events.”

The team also made time to participate in a Toys for Tots parade during the holiday season. “It was very special for us to help raise toys for needy children,” Scali said. “It was an incredible day. We rode our street bikes all the way down one of Chicago’s longest streets, Western Avenue, in 30 degree weather with thousands of other bikers.”

Team Trim-Tex anxiously awaits the start of their season at the AMA/Prostar Sunshine Nationals, March 6th-7th from Gainesville, FL.

“This race we’re going to leave our two-valve motor in to give us some information for the NHRA season,” Scali said. “Vance and Hines are putting together some great motors for us. I learned last year, it doesn’t matter how great the team is, if you don’t have the horsepower you can’t win.”

Scali and all of Team Trim-Tex thanked all of their sponsors for the support and are eager to win them another championship. The Team thanks;
