The Danes are at it Again! Speedy’s Racing Seeking More Action in 2026 FIM-E

Following a record-breaking 2025, the Danish father and son duo of Claus ‘Speedy’ and Marcus Christiansen are exploring the envelope some more this year in FIM-E Super Twin. New ignition and management system, new exhaust and downforce, and a whole lot more in the race to the five-second zone. Marcus gave us a rundown before heading off on their first event of the year.

“This offseason has probably been one of the biggest technical overhauls we’ve ever done on the bike. After winning our sixth consecutive European Championship and running a world-record 6.07 pass last season, we knew we had to keep pushing if we wanted to stay ahead (Per is right behind us, and we work hard to keep it that way!!).

One of the biggest updates for 2026 is a complete switch to a FuelTech FT700 system. We’re now running a full FuelTech setup with their powerful FTSPARK 1500 mJ CDI setup. That gives us far more precise control over ignition and engine management compared to our previous setup.

The transition hasn’t been completely painless. We’ve had some challenges getting everything configured the way we want it, but FuelTech has been helping us a lot, and we’re excited about the long-term potential of the partnership. We believe this system can help us push the bike harder while giving us better consistency and data control.

On the engine side, we’ve updated the support bearing setup in the crankcase to strengthen the bottom end. Last season we pushed the bike hard enough that reliability became a real limitation, so one of the goals this year is to make the engine more durable while also allowing us to push it even harder. Ideally, we’d prefer not to sacrifice a crankshaft every season.

Aerodynamics has also become a major focus for us this winter. We already started experimenting with exhaust-driven downforce concepts last year, but for this season, we’ve gone much further with a completely redesigned floor and exhaust system underneath the motorcycle. It’s definitely something people will notice immediately in the pits. We think it has the potential to make a huge difference, both in stability and performance, but it’s still a bit unknown territory. It will be interesting to see both how competitors react to it, and how the bike itself reacts once we start making full runs.

Performance-wise, our expectations are high. The goal is still to become the first European Super Twin team consistently running in the 5-second zone. We expect the bike to run stable 6.0–6.1 second passes this season, and if everything works the way we hope, the first 5-second run should come during the year.

The opening round at Santa Pod will probably be as much testing as racing because of all the new systems on the bike. But if things start working, we won’t hesitate to push hard immediately. At the end of the day, we’re racers.

Our schedule this year includes:

  • Santa Pod Main Event (UK)
  • Tierp Arena Summit Racing Internationals (Sweden)
  • Hockenheim NitrolympX (Germany)
  • Mosten Raceday (Denmark)
  • Santa Pod Euro Finals (UK)

We’re especially looking forward to returning to Mosten this year. Racing in front of the home crowd always means a lot to us, and it’s a great chance to represent Danish drag racing at the highest level. Before heading to England, we’re also attending Allingåbro Motorfestival as a final shakedown before the season really starts.

The winter has honestly been difficult at times, and there’s been a lot of work behind the scenes to get everything ready. But now we’re close to getting back on track, and we can’t wait to see what this new combination can do!”

Repeatedly resetting the benchmarks for a naturally aspirated push-rod V-Twin and clearly hungry for more, no one would bet against the Danes achieving their ambitions for 2026 and beyond.
