Drag Bike Body Building – Series Finale

One Last Pass – Drag Bike Body Series Finale

In this episode, we work on fine-tuning the body and giving it a semi-polish finish before taking the bike out to the track. We use a sanding block and body files to expose highs and lows in the body surface and then smooth them out with hammer a dolly work. Once at that stage, we then use a DA sander to finish the body out in 150, 240, 400, 800, 1200, and then 3000 grit before rubbing it down with metal polish. We took the bike out to Eddyville Raceway Park in Eddyville, Iowa. The new body looked fantastic in its natural environment and ran well on top of it! Our first pass was 4.71 @ 155mph, and the second pass was 4.60 @ 152mph. It is our hope that you can use some of what we demonstrated in this series to help on your own project.
