XDA – Xtreme Motorcycle Drag Racing Association
39th annual MTC Engineering Summer Nationals
Virginia Motorsports Park
May 15-17, 2026
240 MPH Passes, New Records, and Major Upsets at the XDA Summer Nationals
The XDA’s 39th Annual MTC Engineering Summer Nationals brought the heat to Virginia Motorsports Park on May 15-17, 2026, and the racers responded with one of the most memorable weekends of the season. From record-setting performances and career-first victories to championship contenders making early statements, the Summer Nationals delivered nonstop action across every category. As temperatures climbed and the competition intensified, riders pushed their machines to the limit in pursuit of victory, proving once again why XDA remains the premier destination for motorcycle drag racing on the East Coast. When the smoke cleared, new heroes emerged, records fell, and the battle for the 2026 championships took another dramatic turn.
Orient Express Racing Pro Street
Winner – Jason Dunigan
Runner-up – Mike Sweeney
The Orient Express Racing Pro Street class delivered exactly what fans have come to expect at the XDA MTC Engineering Summer Nationals: six-second passes, speeds exceeding 240 mph, and some of the quickest motorcycle drag racing in the world. With a talented 18-bike field assembled at Virginia Motorsports Park, every round featured championship-caliber matchups and razor-thin margins.

Leading the field into eliminations was Michigan’s Jason Dunigan, who earned the number-one qualifying position with a blistering 6.333-second pass at 235.15 mph. Dunigan’s performance during qualifying sent a clear message that he would be the rider to beat on race day.
The top qualifier wasted no time backing up that performance when eliminations began. Dunigan opened competition with a 6.442 at 238.51 mph to defeat Kenny Brewer before facing Rudy Sanzoterra in round two. Once again, Dunigan delivered, posting a 6.319 at 242.15 mph to advance into the semifinals.
Waiting in the next round was one of the toughest opponents in the class, Rodney Williford. The matchup featured the two quickest motorcycles of the weekend and had all the makings of a final-round showdown. Instead, Dunigan delivered one of the most impressive runs of the event, blasting to a 6.306 at 241.41 mph while Williford encountered trouble and slowed to a 7.772-second pass. The victory sent Dunigan to the championship round and cemented his status as the dominant rider of the weekend.
The final round paired Dunigan against Connecticut’s Mike Sweeney, who had fought through a difficult ladder of his own by defeating Mark Rendeluk, Andrew Ritchey, and Brad Christian to reach the final. Sweeney entered the matchup with momentum, but Dunigan continued his remarkable consistency. Leaving first with a .045 reaction time, Dunigan powered to a 6.307 at 237.80 mph to defeat Sweeney’s 6.465-second effort and secure the Orient Express Racing Pro Street victory.
What made the performance especially impressive was the consistency displayed throughout eliminations. Dunigan posted runs of 6.442, 6.319, 6.306, and 6.307 while exceeding 242 mph. In a class where hundredths of a second often determine the outcome, that level of repeatability is exceptionally difficult to achieve.
By the end of the weekend, Dunigan had not only secured the winner’s trophy but also established himself as an early championship favorite. From the number-one qualifying position to a flawless four-round march through eliminations, the Michigan racer put together one of the most dominant performances of the MTC Engineering Summer Nationals and left Virginia Motorsports Park with the Orient Express Racing Pro Street victory firmly in hand.
DME Racing Real Street
Winner – Jamie Lopes
Runner-up – Jayden Litten
ET Record – Bruce Emmanuel 7.212
MPH Record – Jamie Lopes 211
The DME Racing Real Street class delivered one of the most memorable weekends in recent XDA history at the MTC Engineering Summer Nationals, highlighted by a record-breaking qualifying performance, a new speed benchmark, and the emergence of a rising young star in one of the sport’s most competitive categories.
Before eliminations even began, Bruce Emanuel sent shockwaves through the class by resetting the DME Racing Real Street elapsed-time record with a stunning 7.212-second pass aboard his Harley-Davidson bagger. In a category traditionally dominated by lightweight, high-horsepower import motorcycles, Emanuel’s performance was nothing short of extraordinary. Not only did he secure the number-one qualifying position, but he also became the quickest rider in class history, proving that V-Twin performance has officially arrived in a major way.
While Emanuel grabbed headlines during qualifying, Jamie Lopes would ultimately leave Virginia Motorsports Park with the winner’s trophy.
The St. Eustatius racer entered eliminations as the third qualifier and immediately demonstrated the consistency that would carry him through the ladder. Lopes opened with a 7.307-second victory over Jayden Angela before defeating Marcus Hylton in round two with a strong 7.319 at 209.49 mph.
In the semifinals, Lopes faced second qualifier Nick Hamlett in one of the toughest matchups of the day. Lopes responded with one of the most impressive runs of eliminations, blasting to a 7.315 at a blistering 213.70 mph. Although the pass exceeded the existing class speed record, it could not be backed up under record procedures and therefore did not qualify as a new official mark. Nevertheless, it served notice that Lopes had one of the fastest motorcycles in the field.
The final round produced another compelling storyline as Lopes lined up against Jayden Litten. The North Carolina racer has quickly become one of the class’s most exciting newcomers, reaching the final round in only his second appearance in DME Racing Real Street competition. Litten’s path to the final included victories over Caleb Holt, Brandon Litten, and none other than record-setting top qualifier Bruce Emanuel, making his runner-up finish one of the breakout performances of the weekend.
When the final tree dropped, Lopes delivered once again. His .059 reaction time and 7.374 at 208.75 mph were enough to hold off Litten’s 7.450 at 200.71 mph, securing the DME Racing Real Street victory.
The weekend also saw Lopes establish a new official class speed record of 211.00 mph during qualifying, adding yet another accomplishment to an already impressive performance. Combined with Emanuel’s record-setting 7.212 qualifying run, the event showcased just how quickly the DME Racing Real Street category continues to evolve.
By the end of the weekend, Real Street fans had witnessed history on multiple fronts. Bruce Emanuel rewrote the record books with the quickest pass ever recorded in the class, Jamie Lopes captured the victory while setting a new speed standard, and newcomer Jayden Litten announced his arrival as a future contender by reaching the final round in just his second outing. For a class already known for producing dramatic storylines, the MTC Engineering Summer Nationals may have set a new benchmark.
MaxxECU Pro Xtreme
Winner – Brunson Grothus
Runner-up – John Collins
The long offseason finally came to an end for the MAXXECU Pro Xtreme competitors at the XDA MTC Engineering Summer Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park after the Platinum General Services Spring Nationals were washed out by rain last month. With the championship reset and months of preparation behind them, the class came out swinging immediately with razor-thin reaction times, side-by-side 4.0-second passes, and a stacked field filled with returning title contenders.
Coming into the season opener, all eyes were on defending class champion Terry Schwiegert along with 2025 championship runner-up Brunson Grothus and third-place finisher John Collins. The trio quickly proved why they were the riders to beat last season.
In round one, fifth qualifier Chris Cutsinger set the tone with a strong 4.099 at 177.11 mph victory over Jean Gosselin, while Grothus stormed to a 4.063 at over 182 mph to defeat Thomas Gunn. Craig Rosenberg also advanced after defeating Nikie Corley. Top qualifier Collins survived a scare after breaking on his solo pass, while defending champion Schwiegert also advanced despite mechanical trouble when both he and Chris Theodoridis encountered issues in their matchup.
Round two delivered one of the closest races of eliminations as Collins and Cutsinger left nearly together, but Collins edged him at the stripe with a 4.044 at 180.62 mph over Cutsinger’s quicker-reacting 4.063 at 181.40 mph. Grothus continued to look dangerous with an impressive .013 light and a 4.047 at 183.92 mph to take down Rosenberg. Schwiegert again survived on a single despite another mechanical issue, keeping his hopes for a repeat alive.
The semifinals featured a heavyweight showdown between Collins and Schwiegert. Collins delivered when it mattered most, ripping off the first three-second run of eliminations with a 3.988 at 183.77 mph to defeat Schwiegert’s solid 4.008 at 184.70 mph. On the other side of the ladder, Grothus advanced to the final round after another solo pass when problems sidelined his Suzuki before the tree activated.
That set up a final-round clash between two of last season’s top title contenders — Grothus and Collins — and the matchup did not disappoint. Grothus cut a nearly perfect .007 reaction time and powered to a 4.017 at 178.52 mph to capture the first MAXXECU Pro Xtreme victory of the 2026 season over Collins’ 4.048 at 182.38 mph.
After finishing second in the championship standings last season, Grothus wasted no time establishing himself as an early favorite in the 2026 title chase. Meanwhile Collins’ runner-up finish and Schwiegert’s semifinal appearance proved the defending front-runners remain firmly in the hunt as the MAXXECU Pro Xtreme class heads deeper into another brutal XDA championship season.
MaxxECU Pro Xtreme is presented by Billy Vose Racing, Fast by Gast, Dunigan Racing, DME Racing, Grothus Dragbikes, Harley Haul, Rob Bush Motorsports, Robinson Industries, Schnitz Racing, Timblin Chassis, and Worldwide Bearings, Pro Performance and Mikronite.
HTP Performance Super Stock
Winner – Tim Cottrell
Runner-up – Sawyer Williford
Defending class champion Tim Cottrell opened the 2026 Xtreme Dragbike Association season exactly the way he finished 2025, in the winner’s circle.
Racing in the highly competitive HTP Performance Super Stock class at Virginia Motorsports Park, Cottrell used consistency, speed, and clutch reaction times to defeat newcomer Sawyer Williford in a hard-fought final round battle that showcased just how tight the class has become.
Cottrell came into eliminations as the rider to beat after securing the number one qualifying position aboard his Kawasaki with a blistering 8.757 at 164.01 mph. Not only did the run earn him the top spot on the ladder, it also gave him both low ET and top speed of qualifying.
Making an immediate impression in his class debut was Rougemont, North Carolina racer Sawyer Williford. Riding his Suzuki, Williford qualified second with an impressive 8.858 at 160.29 mph, putting himself directly in the hunt against the defending champion.
The rest of the field was stacked with experienced racers including Mike Chapman, Mike Davis, Rickey Grayson, Jamie Lopes, Caleb Holt, and Jalen Reese, setting up one of the toughest opening-round ladders of the weekend.
The semifinal round featured two heavyweight matchups.
Cottrell squared off against Davis and once again delivered under pressure, running 8.908 at 159.34 mph to advance to the final. On the opposite side of the ladder, Williford continued his impressive debut performance by defeating Mike Chapman with a sharp .121 reaction time and an 8.909 at 159.55 mph.
That set the stage for a final-round showdown between the reigning champion and the class newcomer.
At the tree, Williford grabbed the starting line advantage with a stellar .109 reaction time compared to Cottrell’s .162. But Cottrell’s Kawasaki had just enough performance on the top end to overcome the deficit. The defending champion drove around Williford at the stripe with a winning 8.857 at 159.53 mph, while Williford turned in a respectable 8.986 at a class-best 164.43 mph.
The victory gives Tim Cottrell the first HTP Performance Super Stock win of the 2026 season and immediately positions him as the rider everyone will be chasing once again this year.
Even in defeat, Williford proved he will be a serious contender moving forward. Qualifying second and advancing to the final in his class debut sent a strong message to the rest of the field that a new challenger has officially arrived in HTP Performance Super Stock.
AGM Boosted Bulls
Winner – Malcolm Phillips / Billy Mays
Runner-up – Alex Moore / Hulkamania
The AGM Boosted Bulls grudge racers rolled into Virginia Motorsports Park with one mission at the XDA MTC Engineering Summer Nationals: settle scores and put egos on trailers. No clocks. No time slips. Just boosted monsters, raw horsepower, and racers willing to stand on business when the lanes got tight.
The 2025 class champion, Frankie Stotz, suffered a broken transmission during shakedown runs and was unable to make eliminations to defend his title.
Round one delivered instant street-war energy as Alex Moore, out of Greer, South Carolina, brought “Hulkamania” to the line against Louis Rivellino’s “Geisha” from Henrico, Virginia. Moore came out swinging and advanced to the finals with the crowd fully locked in.
On the other side of the ladder, Malcolm Phillips from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, showed up in “Billy Mays” looking like a man who already knew how the night would end. Phillips grabbed the solo pass in round one and stayed ice cold heading into the money round.
That set the stage for Hulkamania vs. Billy Mays in the final. Both riders left the tree strong, but when the smoke cleared, Malcolm Phillips and the Billy Mays machine stood tall, taking the AGM Boosted Bulls victory and leaving VMP with the kind of respect you can’t buy or fake.
Shore Car Wash Solutions Nitrous Bulls
Winner – David Fondon / Only Fans
Runner-up – Billy Ammons / Side Bitch
The Shore Car Wash Nitrous Bulls class brought pure bottle-fed chaos to Virginia Motorsports Park during the XDA MTC Engineering Summer Nationals. No clocks lighting up the boards. No ET slips floating around the pits. Just nitrous bikes, loud personalities, and racers lined up looking to hurt feelings under the lights.
Round one wasted no time getting disrespectful. Billy Ammons rolled in from Landis, North Carolina with the “Side Bitch” machine and handled Tay Brooks and “Mayweather.” Gavin McMichael kept “Most Wanted” moving after taking out Cody Lowe’s “Sonic,” while David Fondon came all the way from Puerto Rico with “Only Fans” and knocked off Malcolm Phillips and the “AMEX” ride in one of the biggest matchups of the opening round.
Round two tightened the pressure. Billy Ammons earned the solo pass and stayed locked in heading into the finals while David Fondon and Gavin McMichael threw down in a hard-fought battle for the other finals spot. When the smoke cleared, “Only Fans” was still standing and headed to the money round.
That set the stage for a final-round showdown between “Side Bitch” and “Only Fans” — exactly the kind of matchup grudge fans live for.
With both bikes staged deep and the crowd glued to the fence, the Shore Car Wash Nitrous Bulls final had all the tension and attitude the class is known for. When it was all over, David Fondon and the “Only Fans” machine left Virginia Motorsports Park with the win, the respect, and another reminder that Puerto Rico always travels deep when there’s money and pride on the line.
Monster Bulls
Winner – Dylan Wood / Eye Candy
Runner-up – Lamont Talley / Pressure
The Monster Bulls class pulled into Virginia Motorsports Park at the XDA MTC Engineering Summer Nationals looking like a rolling collection of bad decisions and boosted violence. No ETs. No mile-per-hour numbers. Just grudge racers lined up under the lights with reputations on the line and zero interest in lifting.
Round one came out aggressive from the jump. Lamont Talley’s “Pressure” took care of business against Howard Gerken’s “Son of Sam,” while Dylan Wood rolled “Eye Candy” past Josh Eubanks and the “Maverick” machine. Canada’s Dany Bernier brought “Bad Bern” south of the border and knocked off Kevin Dennis and “Full Coverage,” while Henry Wise and the “NJ Drive” combo survived a gritty matchup against Rico Dawson’s “Kut Throat.”
By round two, the energy in the lanes got heavier. Dylan Wood kept “Eye Candy” looking sharp and dangerous, taking out Dany Bernier to punch his ticket to the final. On the other side, Lamont Talley and “Pressure” stayed locked in and handled Henry Wise to set up a final-round clash that had the crowd pressed against the fence.
That left “Pressure” and “Eye Candy” staring each other down for all the respect.
With both riders leaving hard and nobody giving an inch, the Monster Bulls final delivered exactly the kind of tension grudge racing was built on. When the smoke settled over VMP, Dylan Wood and the “Eye Candy” machine stood tall, claiming the Monster Bulls victory and proving that pretty names can still come with savage intentions.
Tommie’s Motorsports DMV Bulls
Winner – Mike Davis / Houdini
Runner-up – Gavin McMichael / Stock Market
The Tommie’s Motorsports DMV Bulls class pulled into Virginia Motorsports Park at the XDA MTC Engineering Summer Nationals looking less like a race and more like unfinished business. No ETs. No scoreboard glory. Just heavy hitters, locked-in riders, and boosted street energy taking over the lanes.
Round one came out swinging with Gavin McMichael’s “Stock Market” from Denton, Maryland cashing in against Myles Taylor’s “Gas Chamber.” Mike Davis rolled the Ohio-based “Houdini” machine past George Stanley’s “Malicious Bull,” while Maurice Kay and “The Time Machine” escaped a tough matchup against Roddney Rich’s “Tonka Toy.” Brian Childress also survived the opening war aboard “Derek For Real,” knocking out fellow Virginia rider Nick Hamlett and “Misbehavin.”
By round two, the pressure got real. Mike Davis kept the Houdini combo deadly consistent and punched his ticket to the finals over Brian Childress, while Gavin McMichael continued applying pressure with “Stock Market,” taking out Maurice Kay to set up a final-round showdown.
That left two killers standing under the Virginia lights: Houdini vs. Stock Market.
With the crowd packed against the fence and both teams talking with body language instead of words, the final had all the tension grudge racing is built on. When it was over, Mike Davis and the “Houdini” machine stood tall, leaving VMP with the Tommie’s Motorsports DMV Bulls victory and proving once again that in grudge racing, respect hits harder than a time slip ever could.
All Motor Bulls
Winner – Gavin McMichael / Zips
Runner-up – Malcolm Phillips / Lil Donkey
The All Motor Bulls class brought pure grudge racing energy to the XDA MTC Summer Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park, and when the smoke cleared it was Gavin McMichael and “Zips” standing undefeated at the end of the weekend.
The shootout featured a stacked lineup of heavy hitters and fan-favorite bikes including “Bad Bitch” ridden by Caleb Holt, Malcolm Phillips on “The Little Donkey,” Grover Watford III aboard “Obama,” Mark Blake on “Frank Lucas,” Louis Rivellino on “No Name,” and Jordan Angelo riding “Da Set Up.”
McMichael and the “Zips” team were locked in from the start. After getting past Louis Rivellino and “No Name” in round one, they advanced with a single in round two before facing one of the toughest bikes in the field, Mark Blake’s “Frank Lucas,” in the semifinals. McMichael kept the momentum rolling and punched his ticket to the final round.
On the other side of the ladder, Malcolm Phillips rode “Lil Donkey” through a tough path to the finals, including a win over Caleb Holt’s “Bad Bitch.” Phillips also received a single in round three to advance into the money round.
The final round paired two undefeated teams against each other, but it was Gavin McMichael and “Zips” who finished the job to complete a perfect weekend at VMP.
The All Motor Bulls class once again delivered the raw, no-prep grudge style racing that fans love, with attitude-packed bike names, tight races, and racers putting everything on the line for bragging rights. At the MTC Summer Nationals, “Zips” left no doubt who owned the yard.
1 Stop Speed 4.60 Index
Winner – Lowry Callahan
Runner-up – Kevin White
The 1 Stop Speed 4.60 class once again delivered some of the closest racing of the weekend at the XDA MTC Engineering Summer Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park. With 32 racers qualified and virtually the entire field clustered around the 4.60 index, racers had little room for error as they battled through five rounds of eliminations on Sunday.
Leading the field into eliminations was Harvey Hubbard, who earned the number-one qualifying position with a perfect 4.600-second run. The qualifying sheet showcased just how competitive the category has become, with the top ten riders separated by only .010 seconds.
When eliminations began, South Carolina’s Lowry Callahan steadily worked his way through one of the toughest brackets of the weekend. Callahan opened race day with victories over Kenny Morgan and Terry Tompkins before defeating Boo Brown in the quarterfinals. He then faced Gary Clontz in the semifinals, where a strong .043 reaction time and a 4.621 pass earned him a spot in the championship round.
Waiting in the final was Kevin White, who had assembled an impressive string of round wins of his own. White knocked off Ellis Pierce, Robert Crocker, Troy Hausmann, and top qualifier Harvey Hubbard to earn his place in the title matchup.
The final round showcased exactly why 4.60 racing remains one of the most popular index classes in the Xtreme Dragbike Association. Both riders left the starting line nearly together, but Callahan’s .061 reaction time combined with a 4.617 elapsed time proved enough to hold off White’s 4.636 effort. At the stripe, it was Callahan collecting the victory and the 1 Stop Speed 4.60 winner’s trophy.
The victory was earned the hard way. Callahan defeated a quality lineup of competitors throughout the day and consistently stayed close to the index when it mattered most. His final-round performance capped off a near-perfect weekend and established him as one of the early contenders in the 2026 1 Stop Speed 4.60 championship chase.
As the season heads toward the next stop on the XDA tour, Callahan leaves Virginia Motorsports Park with momentum, confidence, and the first 1 Stop Speed 4.60 victory of the year firmly in his grasp.
Capital Brand Group 5.60 Index
Winner – Jimmie Miller
Runner-up – Jim Mauro
The Capital Brand Group 5.60 class at the XDA MTC Engineering Summer Nationals delivered exactly what index racing is supposed to be: razor-thin margins, pressure-packed rounds, and riders fighting through adversity all weekend long at Virginia Motorsports Park. With 36 racers qualified and nearly the entire field packed tightly around the 5.60 index, consistency and mental toughness became the deciding factors.
Madison Santin led qualifying with a near-perfect 5.603 pass at 126.16 mph.
When eliminations began Sunday, it was Jimmie Miller and Jim Mauro who carved their way through one of the toughest brackets of the weekend, winning five rounds before meeting each other in the final.
Both riders delivered excitement in the final, with Miller cutting a .010 reaction time to Mauro’s .019. The pair then charged side-by-side to the eighth-mile finish line, where Miller sealed the victory with a 5.651 to hold off Mauro’s 5.664 effort.
What made the win even more impressive was everything Miller had to overcome before the race weekend truly got underway. According to Miller, the weekend nearly ended before eliminations even began after one of his motorcycles fell over in the trailer, damaging a brand-new carbon fiber tire hugger and leaving him frustrated enough that he nearly packed up and left the event entirely.
Instead, the Maryland racer regrouped thanks to encouragement and support from his racing family. Miller also had a strong showing elsewhere in competition, driving deep into Pro ET before eventually turning it red by just -.003 in the quarterfinals. Even after the setbacks, he managed to rebound and capture the biggest prize of the weekend in 5.60 competition.
The victory became more than just another win light; it was a reminder of how quickly emotions can swing in motorcycle drag racing and how important the racing community can be when things go sideways. After nearly leaving Virginia Motorsports Park before qualifying even began, Miller left with a Capital Brand Group 5.60 trophy and one of the hardest-fought wins of the XDA weekend.
MPS Racing Pro ET
Winner – Dale Hamilton
Runner-up – Donta Yates
Brock’s Performance Street ET
Winner – Shayne Proctor
Runner-up – Louis Green Jr
The Brock’s Performance Street ET class kicked off the 2026 XDA season with a stacked field of racers battling through six rounds of eliminations at the MTC Engineering Summer Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park. As always, Street ET delivered a mix of tight reaction times, consistent dial-ins, and close finish-line racing that kept competitors on edge all weekend long.
When the final win light illuminated Sunday afternoon, it was defending class champion Shayne Proctor standing in the winner’s circle once again.
Proctor entered the weekend carrying the momentum of his 2025 Brock’s Performance Street ET championship season and immediately showed why he remains one of the toughest racers in the category. The Indian Head, Maryland racer worked his way through a challenging ladder that included victories over Sharleen Hengeveld, Jahir Murray, Clay Davies, Donta Yates, Michael McCallister, and finally Louis Green Jr. in the championship round.
The defending champion’s consistency was on full display throughout eliminations. After surviving a close second-round matchup with Jahir Murray, Proctor found his rhythm and became increasingly difficult to beat. In round three he defeated Clay Davies, then followed with a semifinal victory over Donta Yates to secure a spot in the final.
Waiting in the opposite lane was Baltimore’s Louis Green Jr., who had put together an impressive race day of his own by defeating Jakhi Murphy, Derek Crawford, Michael Carter, Calvin Walton, and Mason Rambo to reach the final round.
When the championship battle began, Proctor delivered exactly what champions do under pressure. His .020 reaction time gave him an immediate advantage over Green’s .051 light, and Proctor never relinquished control, taking the victory with an 8.727 elapsed time at 146.96 mph. Green turned in a respectable 9.559-second run at 138.84 mph, but it wasn’t enough to deny the reigning champion.
For Proctor, the victory represents more than just another trophy. After capturing the 2025 Brock’s Performance Street ET championship, he opened the 2026 campaign exactly where he left off—at the front of the field. With an early-season win already on the scoreboard, Proctor has immediately established himself as the rider everyone will be chasing in this year’s championship battle.
If the opening race of the season is any indication, the defending champion has no intention of giving up the Brock’s Performance Street ET crown without a fight.
VooDoo Motorcycle Components Bracket Bash
Winner – Heather Bamond
Runner-up – Taylor Dunham
Heather Bamond put together a hard-fought performance to take the VooDoo Bracket Bash win at the XDA MTC Engineering Summer Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park!
After battling through a brutal weekend of setbacks, including a windshield snapping off through the finish line, shifting issues, losing a fuel cap in the pits, and even losing the dial board, Heather and her crew never backed down. When it counted most, the team stepped up and delivered.
The final rounds were stacked with killers, but Heather stayed deadly consistent on her Suzuki, winning 6 rounds of competition before the final round victory over Taylor Dunham. Heather ran a 8.162 on a 8.16 dial to win over Dunhams’ breakout 8.87 on a 8.80 dial.
Behind every winner is a team, and Heather made sure to recognize the crew effort that helped make it happen, from cooling the bike and pushing it through the pits to balancing race day with family life and their baby girl at the track.
This is exactly what the VooDoo Bracket Bash is all about: tough racers, razor-close competition, and racers overcoming everything thrown at them to find the winner’s circle.
Congratulations to Heather Bamond on an unforgettable weekend and an earned XDA victory!
Breezewood Farms Top Sportsman
Winner – Dustin Lee
Runner-up – Logan Mathias
Pro Performance Gambler’s Race
Winner – Dustin Lee
Runner-up – Shayne Proctor
The opening weekend of the 2026 Xtreme Dragbike Association season could not have gone much better for Dustin Lee. After finishing second in the 2025 Breezewood Farms Top Sportsman championship chase, Lee arrived at Virginia Motorsports Park determined to start the new season strong. By the time the MTC Engineering Summer Nationals concluded, he had already collected two trophies and positioned himself as an early championship favorite.
The first victory came Friday night in the Pro Performance Gamblers Race. For years, racers jokingly referred to the class as a curse for Lee. Despite countless attempts, the Tennessee racer had only managed to win the class twice. That narrative changed quickly in 2026.
Lee rolled off the trailer with a motorcycle that was exceptionally consistent despite a weekend that featured everything from cool temperatures to scorching heat. He marched through a talented field that included Taylor Dunham, Evan Sulkowski, Travis Smeltzer, Logan Mathias, and Shayne Proctor. In the final round, Lee left first with a .057 reaction time and watched Proctor turn on the red light, securing the Pro Performance Gamblers Race victory and immediately validating his setup for the weekend.
That confidence carried directly into Saturday’s Breezewood Farms Top Sportsman competition. Lee qualified sixth in the highly competitive 41-bike field with a 7.826-second pass at 178.47 mph.
When eliminations began, Lee continued his relentless consistency. He defeated Andre Roche in round one, Travis Smeltzer in round two, Iquan Johnson in round three, and then second qualifier Mac McAdams in the semifinals.
Waiting in the final round was friend and fellow racer Logan Mathias. For Lee, simply seeing Mathias in the opposite lane was already a victory, but he wasn’t finished yet. Lee delivered another excellent package, posting a .031 reaction time and a 7.901 elapsed time to defeat Mathias and claim his second victory in as many days.
Lee described the motorcycle as “absolutely phenomenal” throughout the weekend, noting that he lost count of how many times he ran dead-on his dial-in. The consistency was evident across both events, as he repeatedly produced winning runs regardless of the rapidly changing weather conditions.
His weekend wasn’t entirely perfect. Saturday’s Bracket Bash ended in round three despite a .030 reaction time and a dead-on run, while Sunday’s 5.60 race ended in round two after missing the tree. Lee also advanced to the final 16 in Pro ET before a finish-line mistake resulted in a heartbreaking .001-second loss.
Even so, two victories in the first two days of competition made for a remarkable start to the season. More importantly, after narrowly missing the 2025 Breezewood Farms Top Sportsman championship, Lee has immediately established himself as one of the riders to beat in the 2026 title chase.
If the opening weekend is any indication, Dustin Lee’s championship pursuit is already off to a flying start. With wins in both the Pro Performance Gamblers Race and Breezewood Farms Top Sportsman, the Russellville, Tennessee racer leaves Virginia Motorsports Park with momentum, confidence, and an early advantage in the battle for the 2026 championship.
