Matheson Takes Second Win for 2016
Australian Top Fuel Motorcycle National Record Holder and Multiple Champion, Chris Matheson has won the Western Australian Top Fuel Motorcycle Round 4 held last weekend at Perth’s Kwinana Motorplex.
Matheson ran a 6.38 at 220mph, defeating Greg Durack on a 7.45 at 178mph. Matheson said it was a good result and the Team really put in the work, despite very hot humid conditions.
We came to Perth to run a semi in the Thunder 400 final, which was rained out last December, however, we smoked the rear tyre, losing to Mark Drew with a 6.45 at 216mph to Matheson’s tyre smoking 7.2 sec at 186mph.
Matheson said “Despite day one’s loss, it was another opportunity to gather data for the bike and its new combination. We backed the bike down for the second day of racing, which enabled us to run 6.56, 6.66 and a 6.38 in the final, despite the hot conditions”.
We return to Perth in a few weeks for a double round at the Nitro Max Thunder 400 series, where we hope to improve on our Track PB of 6.12 set a couple of years back.
Matheson went on to say “thanks to all the Officials, Volunteers and Track Staff that made the event a good one. As usual the Track was good and we look forward to the next round of racing in early March”.
